It was great to see all the support for our talented local producers at the Dark Kitchen showcase on Saturday night. Big thanks to the artists who performed: GALLEON, CATER & HEIST, PAGOTO, OVI, LUCIDREAM, ENERGEE and DARK MODE. A few of them pulled all-nighters to have their tracks ready for us in time for the event, and the end product reflected all the effort they put in. The tunes were top notch, and only reinforced my belief in the great talent we have here. Sometimes when internationals played at Sub Rosa I thought our local supports were every bit as good if not better than the headliner. Sadly we'll have to wait for another day to hear BCHARRE as the gremlins struck as they can do at these events. But he has other gigs coming up so check him out. Finally, a big shout out to Harry, Ruben, Ally, Lex and all the crew at The Outpost Bar for making us feel so welcome. It is a wonderful venue. A gallery of DJ pics will be posted later. 🤓❤️ taken in The Outpost Bar by @subrosa.brisbane

DARK KITCHEN Artist Spotlight : LUCIDREAM Classically trained musician and composer, Lucia aka LuciDream has been a welcome addition to the local scene since settling here from Germany. On Saturday night, she unveils her latest EP 'Die Reise' with a trademark live performance at The Outpost. Tix available here: https://moshtix.com.au/v2/event/dark-kitchen/136210... In her journey as a DJ, LuciDream started off playing in venues throughout Germany, gaining insight and inspiration of many successful Producers. Since moving to Australia in 2018, she has been booked to perform at Melbourne clubs, including MyAeon and SiBar as well as Sub Rosa and Dragonfruit in Brisbane. As her presence has grown in the local music scene, she has also been featured on many podcasts and radios around the globe such as Shades of Blu (USA), RedMoon (AUS) and Undercover FM (UK). Shortly after she started producing in 2019, she released her first EP ‘Retrogrades’ with the Belgium Label Unfinished Monkey Records. Followed by ‘Fungal Fox’ and her new ‘Die Reise' EP, she continues to write new music to share her magic with the world. Here's a taste ... https://soundcloud.com/lucidream444/lucidream-augenblick... DARK KITCHEN Artist Spotlight : DARK MODE After a recent sighting at KNK, Dark Mode is due to re-enter Earth's orbit this Saturday, bringing with him fresh musical samples from faraway galaxies. Tickets available here: https://moshtix.com.au/v2/event/dark-kitchen/136210... Dark Mode is a mysterious masked producer and performer that blurs the boundaries between Techno, Dark Prog and Psy-Tech. Dark Mode is able to bend time, space and reality with high-impact Techno stolen from another realm. Dark Mode not only plays with attitude, but also with your emotions, your mind, your body and your soul. Dark Mode's masked, otherworldly appearance has a profound effect on audiences. Looking at a masked creature from another realm is not like looking at a DJ. It's not a human being, in fact it is more like a mirror - the energy people send to the stage bounces back and everybody has a good time together rather than focusing on one mortal behind the booth. Dark Mode is rapidly building a reputation for delivering high-impact Techno sets within the Australian club and festival scene, making appearances at Sub Rosa events as well as Elements, Dirty Feet Festival (NSW), Psyden, Extent, Frisson Records parties and Spring Campout. The man behind the mask - Dark Mode is a Techno act created by seasoned producer and DJ Nathan Hallam. Nathan is also known for his mainstream House music alias N/Fusion under which he has had multiple top 10 releases on Beatport. In addition to producing and performing Nathan also works behind scenes of the music industry. He manages release distribution and artist liaison for Frisson Records and is also one half of the Techno brand and record label Extent. Here's a taste of his work ... https://youtu.be/Mu-DW65JiP0 Event page: https://fb.me/e/4lfipsANF taken in The Outpost Bar by @subrosa.brisbane

DARK KITCHEN Artist Spotlight ... SKERIK Our esteemed Master of Ceremonies, Skerik is a hugely talented DJ and producer in his own right. He is well known to the Sub Fam as our sound tech and unofficial MC for many moons. His job will be to ensure things run smoothly as possible throughout our sonic odyssey across multiple genres at The Outpost on Saturday night. We asked him to write a few words about his career thus far. So he did ... With two decades of denying song requests in an evolving music scene, you would say it’s built quite the meticulous atypical artist. Fast forward to today and his thirst for crate digging and hand-picking dancefloors gems remains the same. Here's a sample of his work ... https://youtu.be/kbphxBu1OEo Tickets available here: https://moshtix.com.au/v2/event/dark-kitchen/136210... DARK KITCHEN Artist Profile ... CATER & HEIST Tickets to Saturday night's showcase at The Outpost available here: https://moshtix.com.au/v2/event/dark-kitchen/136210?previewId=977DBD20-938B-11EC-897D-C11F1A325651 Batman and Robin, Warne and Healy, Kim and Kanye, Graham and The Colonel… Cater & Heist??? When history looks back on its greatest partnerships, it will surely rate these two Brisbane producers as some of the most mediocre of all time. And they’d happily agree. But maybe, just maybe, they’re onto something. Born out of mutual love of everything from House, Techno and Trance to 90s Rave and Happy Hardcore, Cosmo Cater and Tom Heist bring a collective wisdom and energy to the studio. Both are accomplished and celebrated DJs in their own right, performing at a raft of festivals and clubs in their hometown of Brisbane. Tom had (and continues to have) great success in the hardcore rave scene with his DJ Void moniker, and Cosmo, well known as a Sub Rosa resident and contributor to our first Dark Kitchen album, sports production success as half of Arcane Rhythm. Together though, they’ve embarked on an odyssey through dance music’s golden age, the 90s, but aren’t trying to nauseatingly repeat it. Expect House and techno that nods to the past, yet makes you feel something - an evolution perhaps? Or maybe you’ll just dance. The duo are very excited to be presenting an entire set of originals for Dark Kitchen, and have written these tracks especially with the Sub Rosa crowd in mind. What they're saying about Cater&Heist’s music ... Fisher: “I’d let them ghost write for me” Chris Lake: “Oh would you now?” John Digweed: “I’ve never heard of them, could you stop annoying me?” Dan Burke: “Needs more cowbell” Ricardo Villalobos: “Who?” taken in The Outpost Bar by @subrosa.brisbane
