Ohio Range Day 2026 with Achilles Heel Tactical.

Real gear. Real people. Real work.

From the behind-the-scenes chaos with our passenger princess (credit where it’s due, the guy hadn’t slept in three days and still showed up just to help at the event; To a weekend surrounded by some of the best people in the industry.

Thank you to everyone who continues to trust SubSecond gear, and to those who continue to support us with feedback, questions, ideas, and everything in between. That shit matters.

A lot of you also got a look at the student handbook for our Exigent Response for Patrol Officers course. We’re already looking at scheduling for 2027 and expanding outside of Connecticut.

Big thanks to the Achilles Heel Tactical staff, the volunteers, and everyone who put the work in behind the scenes to make the weekend happen.

And then there’s the best part, the people who actually show up.

The internet has no shortage of experts. Everyone’s a badass, everyone’s an instructor, and apparently everyone has been doing this forever.

Then you get to a range day and reality starts collecting receipts.

Big respect to the guys who showed up, put their skills on demand, got humbled when shit didn’t go right, laughed about it, and went right back to work.

Because it’s pretty easy to look the part online.

It’s a little harder when there’s no camera angle, no ai, no carefully cropped Instagram post or shaped images, and no chance to blame the algorithm.

Until next year!

@subsecond_ Problem solving and filling gaps.

As the saying goes, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”. You can start now or start later. When you’re hungry enough, you’ll eat.

OHIO RANGE DAY 2026

From running a booth to just grabbing gear and asking Paul to run me through it. Some days maybe good. Some days maybe shit! Wouldn’t of got my man card. My times 1.02 on high ready, 2.52 transition

Too slow.
“Slow is Gay, Fast is fast”. (ITB)
Today, we definitely weren’t SubSecond.

Shirts… on point
Shooting… subpar

Great people, great training, and a great weekend still happening

A recap with the boys from the City & Town of Newburgh, NY. Not your “only good clip” highlight reel. Mistakes get made, debriefs happen, push past comfort level.

Flat range work. Shooting on the move. Then taking that into the house.

It was at the team’s request to start with the @achillesheeltactical DOPE drill. Shoutout to AHT!

As @foster.guild says: know why you’re doing what you’re doing, when you’re doing it.

Principles don’t change. Tactics can.

Your resources need to support your tactic and your mission. If they don’t, then adjust.

Do you have the manpower?
Do you have the equipment?
Does the structure support the tactic?
Are the priorities of life actually being prioritized?

Throttle control matters. It’s a hell of a lot easier to slow down than it is to try and regain momentum after you’ve gotten yourself into a situation your resources and skill level can’t support.

And this is where you have to be honest.

Honest with yourself.
Honest with your team.
Honest about the mission.

There’s nothing wrong with saying, “We need more training.”

More resources. More time. More information. More help.

That’s not weakness. That’s understanding the problem before you make the problem bigger.

Train hard. Know your why. Understand your resources. Adjust when the mission demands it.

Don’t let your ego write the plan. by @subsecond_unleashed

Operations are managed in motion.

They are as much mental, as they are physical.

From the initial callout through planning, briefing, en route, containment, K&A, initial breach, entry, suspect in custody, and secondary clears—your systems should move with you and document every step. by @subsecond_unleashed

Too many people out there sharing their opinions when they haven’t earned the right to…

Stay humble. Just some thoughts inspired by mutual rants between @subsecond_unleashed and I…

This past week some of our instructors traveled from all across the US to share our knowledge during the K9 Summit hosted by Chesterfield Police Department in Virginia. We wanted to thank our giveaway sponsors for your support and express our gratitude for your support of our mission and all you do for the working dog community. We had an awesome seminar that pushed K9 teams outside of their comfort zones and held them to the highest standard. We bring real world operational experiences to every seminar and share that knowledge with teams.

If you or your department are interested in attending or hosting a seminar please don’t hesitate to reach out. We will put together a team of experienced trainers and bring top notch training to you.

Environmentals are one of the most important things we can train.
Like the rest of my team I want my Dog to be able to work efficiently and effectively no matter what the conditions are.
So if you see a problem work through it, if you don’t know how find someone with the information.
