Okay story time - this idea was something I kind of dreamed up while I was on the road. I knew I wanted to film a dj set in New Zealand I just didn’t know what kind of set I wanted it to be. I’ve always been a bit shy or concealing of the music I made. I’m not 100% sure why but it might have something to do with the fact that I really do make music for ME. (it’s a plus that yall fw w it fr) I started DJing when I was 15. Virtual Dj to club standard CDJ pipeline is crazy. That being said I have djed in so many clubs and venues and genre specific nights and different vibe parties and festivals and they always asked different things of me. I tried to embody whatever vibe I had to create sets for. This made me learn about so many different kinds of music and genres some of which I had never heard of or really listened to. This grew my palette and when I started producing I knew I wanted to be able to make music that fit any style or theme that I wanted. I was really infatuated with being able to start at a 73bpm hip hop track and work my way up to a 140-170 up tempo garage or bass track. It’s so cool to move with the vibe of a party or function with that kind of fluidity, playing my edits or originals along the way.That’s where this set comes from. A little bit of my favorite tunes, a lot of unreleased originals, edits, collabs, remixes, and mashups. When I finished the playlist for this set, I had over 115 songs that I MADE. Sprinkle in some of my favorite tunes and the end result is this mix. I’ll do a deeper dive on the equipment I used in a later video but this is the most mobile set up I’ve ever played around with and there are definite some mistakes but it’s raw, unfiltered, subtoll. 🙏Enjoy 🤍Full mix on YT this Wednesday. ✨ by @subtoll
