10 NOVEMBER | FLEXIBLE CAREERS & HIDDEN ROLES IN EDUCATION
Think working in education means becoming a teacher?
Think again! Our trainer Dee will be joined by Max, Executive Principal at Harris Federation, who’ll share an employer’s perspective on the huge range of roles available in education, what schools are looking for and why the skills mums bring are so valuable.

19 NOVEMBER | START & GROW YOUR BUSINESS

📞 Quick heads up if you’ve recently signed up with Successful Mums...

We know what it’s like... your phone rings from an unknown mobile and your first thought is - I’ll let that go to voicemail! 🙈

But if you’ve registered for one of our courses, that mystery caller could actually be one of our friendly team getting in touch about your next steps.

As we work remotely we often call from a mobile number, so if you’re expecting to hear from us, it’s worth answering.

We’d hate for you to miss out because we couldn’t get hold of you 😊

From supporting mums back to work… to the TEDx Bromley stage.

This Saturday, our founder Jane Knight will be taking to the stage at @tedxbromley and it feels like a rather special moment.

For the past 12 years, Jane and the Successful Mums team have supported more than 12,000 women to recognise what they have to offer after becoming a mum.

Because time away from work doesn’t take away your experience. Working around a family doesn’t make you less ambitious. And starting again, at 30, 40, 50 or beyond - doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

We’ve seen mums return after years away, completely change careers, find jobs they didn’t know existed, start businesses, gain qualifications and perhaps most importantly, start believing in themselves again.

That’s a message Jane has championed since Successful Mums began in 2014 and this weekend, she gets to take her ideas to the TEDx stage.

From one mum with an idea to a community of more than 12,000 women.

We couldn’t be more excited to see where that red dot takes her next.

Good luck Jane! 🎤

Sometimes the experience that shapes your next career doesn’t come from a workplace.

After nearly 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Jeanette took an eight-year career break to raise her children.

During that time, supporting her son with ASD gave her a growing interest in SEND - and eventually opened the door to a completely new career.

Jeanette came to Successful Mums to regain her confidence, update her skills and develop her knowledge of SEND.

After more than 10 years without an interview, she secured three interviews in just two weeks.. and was offered all three jobs. 🙌

Jeanette chose a full-time, term-time role as a SEND Job Coach at Bromley College.

If, like Jeanette, your own experiences have given you an interest in SEND, perhaps it could lead somewhere for you too.

Our Working in SEND Level 3 course can help you build your knowledge, gain an accredited qualification for your CV and discover the different roles available supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Interested in a career in SEND? Click the courses link in bio or drop the word SEND in the comments below and we’ll send you the link 🫶

Excited to be speaking at @tedxbromley THIS SATURDAY Oct 3rd! 🎤

I’ve been working on my TED talk for months whilst building @ayaabotanicals, raising 4 young kids and navigating a particularly challenging life season.

So much of what I’ve learnt through recent losses & triumphs has gone into my talk. Perhaps that’s why I’ve never been so nervous to stand on stage…

I suppose you could say that even the process is Defying Expectations 🥁

TEDxBromley will be a brilliant day of ideas, inspiration and conversations designed to change the way we think. Meeting all the other wonderful speakers has certainly enriched my life and you will love their insightful & well researched talks!

I’m also very much looking forward to the after party @theroyalbell.bromley. Free entry & drink with all tickets, so grab one of the last few if you haven’t booked already. See you there!

📅 Saturday, 3 October 2026

50 women, 50 cups of ambition and one brilliant morning in Bromley ☕

Last week we brought together more than 50 women at Clockwise Bromley for a morning of networking, new connections and plenty of conversation.

With Howard Dawber OBE, Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Growth, joining us as our guest speaker, we talked about making networking feel less daunting, why quality beats quantity, and how a little preparation can make walking into a room of new people much easier.

And, inspired by Dolly Parton, there was plenty of ambition in the room too. Although at Successful Mums, we’re much more interested in flexible, family-friendly work than the traditional 9 to 5😉

We’ve shared some of our favourite moments, tips and feedback from the morning in our latest blog.

👉 Pour yourself a cup of ambition and have a read -blog link in bio 🔗

A huge thank you to Howard, Clockwise Bromley and everyone who came along and made the morning what it was 👏 and a special shoutout to @tessaclementsphotography for the amazing photos and capturing the morning so perfectly 📸

Jane’s heading to Blackpool! 🙌

Our founder Jane Knight will be at SheChain Live on 1 October, joining founder Coral Horn and the team along with hundreds of women in business for a day of new ideas, conversations and connections.

SheChain Live takes place the day before the Enterprise Vision Awards (EVAs), making it a two-day celebration of women in business – first bringing women together to connect, learn and create opportunities, before celebrating their achievements at the EVAs.

With 30+ speakers, founders, leaders, buyers and changemakers coming together, it sounds like it’s going to be a brilliant day.. and very much Jane’s kind of room!

If you’re heading to SheChain Live too, make sure you look out for Jane and come and say hello 👋

We’re looking forward to seeing who she meets, what she learns and what she brings back to the Successful Mums community.

You can still get tickets if you’d like to join the fun, check out @eva_awards bio 🔗

It’s Youth Mental Health Day 💞

Today is a chance to talk openly about children and young people’s emotional wellbeing and to recognise that understanding mental health can make a real difference to how young people are supported.

It’s a cause close to our hearts.

That’s why our Working in Schools programme includes the recognised Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health.

As well as adding a valuable qualification to your CV, you’ll develop your understanding of young people’s mental health and how you can support them, knowledge that can be particularly valuable if you’re looking to work in a school or education setting.

Understanding what a young person may be going through can change the way we support them.
