Morrissey. Suedehead. Signed EMI 12-inch Promo Sample single, Australia. I've often called Hairdresser On Fire the greatest b-side ever. Now it's been blessed, and I'm eternally grateful to M for his kindness. The Fall. The Frenz Experiment. Rebel Rec LP, Germany. One of their last great albums of the 80's. Unlisted bonus track in Germany, "Hit The North" was a standalone single in the UK, but a featured track in the US. Several issues of this album exist on vinyl, cassette, and CD, and several contain either one or more bonus tracks or a bonus 7-inch single. #theFall #markesmith #postpunk #vinylcollection #recordcollection by @suedehead1969

Squeeze. Self-titled. A&M LP. Promotional NFS copy with intact stickers on the cover. Produced by former Velvet Underground member John Cale. Early/initial pressings were released on clear red vinyl. Curiously, the third song, "Strength Of Reason," is not listed on the back of the sleeve. Another tidbit: The record label added the "UK" to the band's name. Apparently, there were a couple of other acts using exact or similar names at the same time. One was in the US, called Tight Squeeze, and another was based in Australia, going as Squeeze. The label did not want to incur any kind of legal troubles and sought to differentiate the band before any kind of litigation could happen. This "UK" addition to their name was quickly abandoned once the band's critical and fan recognition ensured no confusion was going to occur, and neither of the other bands found similar levels of success. #Squeeze #nowplaying #vinylcollection #recordcollection #vinylcommunity by @suedehead1969

The Pogues. If I Should Fall From Grace With God. Island/WEA LP. USA & EU comparison. Which do you prefer? This is one of the rare instances where I prefer the American cover to the overseas original. The American cover is more of an artsy design (a photo of author James Joyce, along with superimposed faces of the band) rather than the band snapshot featured on the overseas version. The US edition moves the European cover photo to the Back of the sleeve instead, whereas the European version has a plain white back, and uses the James Joyce/band artwork on its glossy, notched Inner Sleeve. One downside to the American inner sleeve is that it is a much cheaper, flimsy grade of paper, however it does feature one additional unique band photo that is Not included in the Euro version. Another difference is the American version splits the lyrics on either side of the inner sleeve, while the European inner has all of the words on one side and band credits and the James Joyce/band art on the other. The labels are completely different, with the Island label appearing a little sleeker and less cluttered than its counterpart's label. Track listings are identical. #nowplaying #thepogues #pogues #shanemacgowan #vinylcollection by @suedehead1969

The Smiths. Ask. Rough Trade 12-inch single, UK. Germany and Australia editions are also pictured. "Ask" recently had its 40th anniversary. Also pictured in this clutch of singles is some alternate artwork, which used the Yootha Joyce "Ask" photo for "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" in Germany. Interesting mix of b-sides, too. I always thought the German cover for "Ask" had a better layout, especially on the back cover. Morrissey himself appears on the Australian single art, one of the few instances of him doing so, as he preferred to issue Smiths released featuring his favorite pop culture icons. #thesmiths #morrissey #johnnymarr #vinylcollection #nowplaying by @suedehead1969

Morrissey. Kerching, Kerching c/w Isle Of Dogs. Sire 7-inch single. #nowplaying #thesmithsfans #vinylcollection #morrissey #thesmiths by @suedehead1969

Morrissey. Zoom Zoom The Little Boy c/w Without Music The World Dies. Sire 7-inch single. Album track from Make-Up Is A Lie, with a b-side pulled from the wealth of material cut during the years of Morrissey's label woes after his Capitol deal capsized. #Morrissey #45rpm #nowplaying #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity by @suedehead1969

Morrissey. Interesting Drug. Japan maxi CD (signed for me by Morrissey, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce) and 12-inch single variants including the standard release version, the Oscar Wilde etched disc ("motorcycle au pair boy" and image on one side, and an "oopsie" folded label on the flip), and the red sleeve pre-release promo editions. In my opinion, the Morrissey/Stephen Street writing duo was the best since his songs with Johnny Marr, and with the other ex-Smiths in tow, including Craig Gannon, it was also one of his strongest backing groups. "Interesting Drug" had such a great sound, too, nothing else sounded quite like it. #Morrissey #thesmiths #vinylrecordcollection #vinylcollection #nowplaying by @suedehead1969

The Clash. London Calling. CBS LP, France. Fantastic third album, loaded with some of their best loved songs. "Spanish Bombs" was my favorite. This French edition has discs labeled "Made In England," and is missing the unlisted track, "Train In Vain," which is one of my Least liked Clash songs, so it works out perfectly! #theClash #nowplaying #punkrock #vinyl #recordcollection by @suedehead1969

The Smiths. The World Won't Listen. Rough Trade 2-LP, Australia. As if the crossover tracks of Hatful Of Hollow, the World Won't Listen, and Louder Than Bombs hadn't caused enough confusion (and debate over which comp was better), along came this Double Vinyl mega collection, the Australian pressing of The World Won't Listen. Adding a whopping 12 tracks to the 16 track original release, it looked Louder Than Bombs in the eye and said, "You see what you started?!" Granted, each comp has a few unique things its counterparts are missing (a few different tracks, alternate lyrics, different versions, alternate mixes, etc.), so there's still novelty in owning every version, as each is a different experience. Personally, I think it's hard to beat Hatful of Hollow, but I enjoy playing all of them. Pictured with the album are the cassette, CD, songbook, and industry only promotional compilation featuring an alternate layout of the same artwork. #thesmiths #morrissey #johnnymarr #vinylcollection #nowplaying by @suedehead1969
