A new way of making monoprints for me - liquid chalk paints on a shiny surface, (cover of kids' sticker book, forgot my gelli plate,) but in the sun & wind I had to do it quickly & take multi prints after laying down each colour. Love that it's freed me up. Angus hills with gloriously ripe fields.

We had a visit from Scottish Reptile Parties yesterday for Rebecca McEwan 's birthday surprise. Raine was brilliant with the reptiles & knew lots about them as well as telling us funny anecdotes. We were able to handle some of the creatures afterwards & it was just amazing. I can highly recommend this if you live in the Central Belt of Scotland. I have much better photos but dont want to post images of family faces.

Trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, 44 years after I watched, with my P5 class, the Tudor ship, the Mary Rose, breaking the surface as she was lifted from the sea bed. The way she's been preserved, the way the artifacts are presented, is wonderful! And so much is textile related! Rope netting to prevent boarding; a brush used to keep the surgeon's cabin clean; his coif lined with silk; even sailors had a stash of threads & haberdashery! The cat-o-nine-tails really did have 9 tails of tarred rope & knots to cause even more pain. HMS Victory's hammocks, & the interior of Nelson's trunk & the mast & rigging of Victorian HMS Warrior are all adding to inspiration. #portsmouthhistoricyard #maryrose #hmsvictory by @suemc1313
