some weddings are beautiful because of where they’re held. others are beautiful because of everything that happened there before the wedding ever did.

no popular venue can beat getting married in the place where you grew up, met, fell in love, got engaged and now call home.

no destination can recreate the feeling of your mom singing “don’t stop believin’” in the same hall where she’s sung it for years. a tradition born simply from a community having a good time together. the same hall sitting in the heart of the little beach town your family helped settle generations ago, surrounded by people who don’t just know the tradition, but have lived it alongside you.

nantucket, newport and martha’s vineyard may give you those magazine-cover-worthy photos, but nothing compares to getting married in your own little slice of heaven where the people, places and traditions already mean something.

as a vendor, but even more so as a friend, getting to capture a family i’ve known for over a decade celebrate in the heart of a community that is also my own was something i could never put a monetary value on.

people came home from all over the world to the little beach town that connects us all. no celebrity destination. no famous backdrop. just home, the people you love, and a lifetime of memories already built into the walls.

and maybe that’s what makes a place worth getting married in. not how many people recognize it, but how deeply you do.
