Devayani feels deeply neglected and jealous because Lord Murugan is infatuated with Valli. She addresses a swan (annam), asking it to go near her lord, convey her feelings, and bring him back, while venting her frustration about how Valli used her wiles to trap him. Bhringi was a devoted worshipper of Lord Shiva. Every day, he came to Kailash and circumambulated Shiva with unwavering devotion. But Bhringi worshipped Shiva alone. He refused to acknowledge Goddess Parvatiโ€”the Divine Mother and embodiment of Shakti, the energy that gives life to all creation. To reveal the eternal truth that Shiva and Shakti are inseparable, Parvati united with Shiva and became one with Himโ€”half Shiva and half Parvati. Thus appeared the divine form of Ardhanarishvara, symbolising the perfect union of consciousness and energy. Yet Bhringi remained determined. He transformed himself into a tiny bee and tried to circle only Shiva, avoiding Parvati. Seeing this, Parvati withdrew the energy from his body, and Bhringi was reduced to a skeleton. Unable to stand, he finally understood the truth: Without Shakti, there can be no Shiva in creation. Moved by compassion, Shiva blessed Bhringi with a third leg so that he could stand once again.
