Bollywood song from 1976 > Dubstep instrumental in 2009 > Grime classic from 2010 onwards There are numerous Sukh Knight productions I would do a video about but this one’s special for the journey and evolution, and then impact it had. Parbat Ke Peeche is well loved Bollywood song from the 70s film Mehbooba, sung by the legend Lata Mangeshkar. Sukh Knight built a dubstep track over it. P Money’s ‘Slang Like This’ (with True Tiger) was a class dubstep / grime crossover track in 2010. “You get me blud, bredrin, cool, safe” spitting over this beat 💥We used to go to a night in Birmingham called Goonies (referenced at the start of Slang Like This) which was at The Rainbow Pub. Seeing South Asian DJs like Sukh Knight and True Tiger, playing was the reason I bought a pair of decks! Representation in any field = inspirationYou may notice that the song title is spelt Parabat which is different to the original song title from the movie. That’s because back in 2009 some twat in Newcastle stole a CD from Sukh Knight’s cd case.
