About two years ago I embarked on the BIGGEST knitted piece I’ve ever done ~ a knitted blanket documenting some of the buildings I saw while I was in Europe 🏰🏠🏢 Want to know more about my process and inspos for this project? Stick around for the next post! —— As I’ve been reigniting my art account and trying to find inspiration and new projects to do, this one came to mind! A few firsts from this project: • my first time making my own color patterns and experimenting with different patterns of stiches • my first time finishing a knitted project in a month... • my first time color switching! #arch #architecture #knitting #fiberarts by @suliadoesart
I absolutely love my desk, my creative space! I always want to create with others and go on crafting dates, but I fear I love working in my little corner too much… #icantbetheonlyone #crochet #wip by @suliadoesart
I LOVE to host and I’ve been thrifting to build up my collection, but I have not been able to find a good table runner that I like… So I decided I’ll just make one! by @suliadoesart
I’ve put off getting a yarn winder for forever, and getting one has changed my life for the better! Now I’m winding the insane amount of yarn that I own 🤩🧶 by @suliadoesart
A semester of oysters! I LOVE oysters and even more I love sharing them with people! 🦪🫶 So, I spent all semester making this lovely oyster plate and got to shuck and share some of my favorite east coast oysters with my class! After this piece was bisqued I did a layer of iron oxide, a layer of O’Riley White, the a few more layers of iron oxide along the lip of the plate. If I were to do this again, I’d go even crazier with the iron oxide and make the edges and bumps and texture more dramatic! Now I have this plate for the rest of my life to share my favorite oysters! by @suliadoesart
What a privilege it was to present my MASTER’S THESIS yesterday in front of my professors, peers, students, and friends 🎉 So much time, effort, and sacrifice went into this thesis. This was so much more than just an architectural exploration, but also an exploration of my cultural heritage and connecting with it. Truly an experience that I will never forget! So proud to be a daughter of immigrants and make a difference with my work! by @suliadoesart
A quick zine on how the circular food production cycle works in my thesis project! 🌱 Production: food is grown on site, and rain water and excess heat waste are collected to be recycled! 🥘 Preparation: this is the transitional stage where food is either cooked or dried and fermented, and then sold! 🍽️ Consumption: gathering over a meal can be found anywhere on site, with spaces to accommodate for one or for many! ⚡️ Disposal: excess food and heat waste and transformed into usable energy using systems such as an anaerobic digester and turbine! by @suliadoesart
Boards are due in less than 30 hours hours you say… by @suliadoesart
I can do hard things, and I can do them well! I can do hard things, and not get overwhelmed! (mantra of the day) by @suliadoesart
Rest in peace to the darling plates that didn’t make it past the final firing 😔🤘 by @suliadoesart
The moment I (we?) have been waiting for - my beaded candle holders! Scroll to see the process! (1) the final product - so beautiful and I can not wait to use this (2) testing glazes and firing temp - what worked was firing at cone 04 with a clear glaze (3) class critique (4) testing different form work with the beaded clay (5) the testing the initial form work and experimenting with how to integrate the seed beads into the clay by @suliadoesart
A little sketch from the bananas in Graz case study - identifying what areas of my thesis site exudes the most heat waste and where I can harvest the most rain/snowfall and building the program there. Designing the systems with a system! by @suliadoesart
