Thank you volleyball for giving me opportunities I could never imagine, friendships that turned into sisterhood, life long mentors, and life lessons. These past 4 years going from being a Cypress charger to a NCCU Eagle has been a rollercoaster full of unforgettable memories and emotions I will cherish for life! One of the biggest blessings my mom gave me when I was born was naming me after all of my grandmothers. My first name came from our queen herself Vanila Imaugna Uhi Kongaika. She was the foundation for her great grandkids, our rock for us grandkids, and the glue to her kids. As a kid being named after such a strong lady I was constantly taught about where the name Vanila comes from and why grandma is so proud to be from Kolomotu’a. Growing up grandma made me her little tail. Because of her I started to learn how to dance and embrace/love my Tongan culture. She would take me to all the family functions and have me dance to her song Hala Vuna in representation of her and if there wasn’t anything going on she would have me perform for her in the living room of her house just me and her. She would tell me my name is powerful and to hold it proudly. I am forever blessed to be 1 of 2 grandkids to hold your name and represent you in all I do! Grandma I love you so much! Our memories, life lessons, and talks will be forever cherished in my heart. I am forever grateful for you and all you have done to lead and guide us Kongaika kids. Never in a million years did I ever see this coming. I never thought that having to say your last goodbye to a sibling would be so soon. When I see my siblings we always talk about our future lives together. We planned to send our kids to each others home so they can annoy their uncles and told each other that our kids would come and beat your kids up and planned to be the coolest grandparents and make sure our kids children stayed together. We planned to live all on the same street with our houses next to each other so we can all be close by one another. But we never thought that in our plans something so tragic like losing you would happen.

I still can’t believe it. This all feels so unreal. As if it was a nightmare I’m waiting to be woken up from. Seeing you sleeping made me just want to shake you and say wake up! Everyone is here to see you.

Mani you truly are our blessing in disguise. You belonged to us all. You completed so much of us and now we’re incomplete without you. I don’t know how to go on with this life knowing that I’m missing my baby brother. Mani I love you so much! My heart is hurting know that you were called home so soon. Knowing that memories of us is all I have now. How can we still be the crazy Kongaika kids without you. I’m trying so hard to wrap my head around everything that happened in a week. I’m still trying to wrap my head on the fact that your gone. Everyday I’m still waiting for you to walk right through our front door with whatever friend you offered a ride home too. I am still waiting for you to piss me off like your other brothers but then turn around and do what I ask. I’m still waiting for you to come home so I can force a hug again.

I’m thankful to have you as my baby brother and most importantly for Heavenly Fathers plan of happiness. Through him I know I’ll see you again.

Mani I love you with all I got! And I miss you every single day! I promise I’ll continue to work hard for us! I’ll continue to watch over our siblings down here too. I promise I’ll take care of your mom and dad. I love you Helaman!! Until we meet again baby brother!❤️🕊️
