Adornment I, 2026

The axe becomes a charm. The threat empties out in transit.

This series uses the figure of the weaponised girl as a case study in context collapse, examining how symbols circulate until what they meant is no longer attached to what they look like. Kawaii or weaponised, the image arrives the same way, as style. These symbols are then placed onto older female bodies, where the mismatch asks what the symbols were ever for in the first place. Something that was once dangerous is now something you might hang from a keychain.

Interface
2026
3D animation

Screens grow skin. They sprout wings and leave.

Interface begins with the premise that prolonged exposure to human consciousness does not merely shape the user, it animates the tool. The work traces a moment of threshold: a screen that has absorbed enough sensation, language, and attention to develop its own form and will. The repetitive mechanical act of typing becomes the ritual through which this transfer occurs, until the accumulated weight of human input produces something that no longer requires it. by @sum__liu

Bournemouth Cemetery Guide
2024
stone clay cover, laser-cut acrylic pull tabs, 4 folded zines

The work begins with an encounter: a cemetery discovered on the way to school during the first year of living in the UK. In East Asian contexts, cemeteries are spatially removed from daily life, defined by distance, silence, and ritual formality. In Bournemouth, they exist differently, embedded within the city, adjacent to streets, schools, and homes.

Four cemeteries documented over three months, including the one where Mary Shelley is buried. Each zine is die-cut to mirror the space it documents, expanding outward from church to community, sacred to everyday. The cover is cast in stone clay, each pull tab laser-cut after the railings of each cemetery. by @sum__liu
