Hi there! My name is Sumire.

I live with my daughter Eloise ('15) and our dog Mira in the center of beautiful Haarlem. I started my own business as an interior advisor in ’21, and also work as a consultant @demooistemuren since ’22. But before that I had a completely different career... I used to be a professional violinist!

When I was 5 years old it was evident I was to be a musician. I loved playing for people, watching them reliving feelings they sometimes forgot they had. Filling people's hearts still makes me tick to this day.

Surely I became older, and learned that the hardships to overcome when choosing this path could be at times overwhelming. At the point to which playing music only felt as hard work and emotional rollercoasters.

After starting my career early as a teen, I got an injury which enabled me to play for 1,5 year. In this period I learned French, and as soon as I could play again I went to the conservatory in Paris. I was then seventeen years old. It was tough and I think it did me more harm than good. I chose not to finish my bachelors there.

Back in the Netherlands I auditioned for the orchestra I quite literally grew up in (my mum is a violinist too and was also a member of the @rotterdamphilharmonic ). I was very young, thrilled and terrified. The first two years I was in constant panic, feeling I wasn't able to keep up with the killing pace of new, hard pieces to then showcase at 4 concerts a week. As I got the hang of it I got married, bought our first house and started to enjoy especially touring the world with this big orchestral family. Life seemed to be perfect. (1/2 read on in comments)

Nu in @libelle Buitengeluk 🤎 Een heel bijzonder huis, laag voor laag samengebracht door @sumire162.

We hadden nog niet eerder samengewerkt en bij binnenkomst wist ik eigenlijk meteen dat hier heel veel te ontdekken viel. Tijdens het fotograferen vertelde Sumire me over haar vader, die veel van de kunst maakte en daarmee ook het kleurenpalet inspireerde. Over haar verleden als violist en de verhalen achter alles wat door de jaren heen een plek in huis kreeg.

Misschien kwam het daardoor, maar ik vond het huis op de een of andere manier ook heel muzikaal. Kleuren, vormen en patronen als hoge en lage tonen, die iedere ruimte weer een ander ritme geven. En dan elementen die ergens anders ineens weer terugkomen, als een soort refrein.

En het licht die dag was ook echt heel magisch! Steeds viel de zon weer op iets anders waar even de aandacht naartoe moest.

The house feels so empty! 🥲
Eloise left to Leipzig with her dad, and Mark is on tour for a week. ✨

I'm not going to lie though. It's such a luxurious feeling to be able to sleep in, eat what I want (hellooo goatcheese and miso soup breakfast) and find stuff wherever I left it. 🥰

Of course I can never sit still so off to painting and wallpapering Elo's room! 😬

Accidental still-life in this little nook at the top of the stairs.

Young version of my dad looking down those steep stairs to watch over anyone not holding on to the banister. 😏

🌱I find the texture of these cushions @ottomania.nl really lighten up the space. Using different materials, next to the use of color, makes a huge difference in an interior.
