🏁 DAIKOKU PA — JAPAN’S LEGENDARY CAR MEETING SPOT 🇯🇵

If you love cars, there’s one place in Japan you’ve probably heard of…

Daikoku Parking Area — 大黒PA

📍 Located in Yokohama, connected to the Shuto Expressway network, Daikoku PA has become internationally famous for Japan’s unique car culture.

🚗 What makes it special?

On busy nights, you can see everything from legendary JDM cars to modern supercars, classics and heavily modified builds.

🔥 Nissan GT-R
🔥 Toyota Supra
🔥 Mazda RX-7
🔥 Honda NSX
🔥 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
🔥 Subaru WRX
🔥 European supercars
🔥 Rare & custom builds

But the real attraction is the community.

Car enthusiasts come together, check out each other’s builds, take photos, talk about modifications and simply enjoy the atmosphere.

🌃 The night scene is where the magic happens.

Bright lights, rows of cars, the Yokohama skyline and the sound of engines make Daikoku PA feel completely different from an ordinary highway rest stop.

⚠️ Important: Daikoku PA is a highway service/parking area — it isn’t an official car-show venue. Access and gatherings can change, and the area may be closed or restricted at times. Always follow expressway rules and staff instructions.

🇯🇵 For car lovers visiting Japan, Daikoku PA is more than a destination…

It’s a glimpse into the passion, creativity and culture behind Japan’s legendary automotive scene.

An evening reserved for those who understand beauty.
Mount Fuji by @sumirz

Sometimes, life gets busy, and we forget to share the little moments along the way. ❤️
It’s been a while since I last posted, so I thought I’d share a few clicks and beautiful memories from my travels.
Every journey leaves behind a story, every picture holds a feeling, and every moment becomes a memory worth keeping. Not every beautiful moment needs words… sometimes a photograph says it all.
A little collection of places, moments, and memories close to my heart.

Oiran Dōchū (花魁道中) — The Oiran Parade

1. History
The Oiran Dōchū originated during Japan’s Edo period (1603–1868) in Yoshiwara, Edo’s famous licensed pleasure district, now part of Tokyo. The procession showcased high-ranking courtesans as they walked through the streets accompanied by their attendants. Today, it is recreated at traditional festivals to preserve the cultural heritage of the Edo period.

2. Elegant Appearance
Oiran were distinguished by their luxurious, multilayered silk kimonos, richly decorated obi sashes, elaborate hairstyles, and ornate kanzashi hairpins. Their striking appearance reflected their high status and the refined fashion of the pleasure quarters. They also developed skills in music, poetry, conversation, and traditional etiquette.

3. The Traditional Walk
One of the most distinctive features was the Hachi-monji (八文字), a slow, stylized figure-eight walking technique performed in tall, three-toothed wooden sandals. This demanding movement required balance, precision, and practice, transforming the procession into a graceful theatrical spectacle.

✨ A timeless glimpse into the beauty, artistry, and complex history of Edo-period Japan.
