The original version was released in 2004 on my album ‘Indian Girl’. @alexmachacekhimself came up with the idea to revisit and remix this song. Once again, he has created and produced something so magical (imho).

I’M 60 AND I #LOOKMYAGE  @ageismisneverinstyle

In December, I turned 60 — and I was determined to let go of the notion that my age defines what’s possible. Easily said, much harder to do, so I discovered.

For the longest time, people told me I didn’t “look my age”. I always wondered what that even meant — how am I supposed to look, let alone feel at any given age? It turns out that the more you hear this phrase, the more you lean on it, the more you convince yourself that you’re never going to look your age (even when you don’t know what that’s supposed to mean …).

Lately, people have suddenly stopped saying I look younger than my age. Though this took some getting used to, I am incredibly thankful it happened. It marked the beginning of learning to feel comfortable — even happy — in my new skin, my new body, my new self. I slowly found joy again. Remembered who I am and all I could still become.

Last week, I finally had the courage to do a photo shoot with my dear friend and favourite photographer, Michelle Shiers (@michelleshiers).
For years I’d told her I needed new photos, but something always stopped me — a little voice that got louder every time I caught myself in the mirror, on a FaceTime call, or in old photos taken just a few years ago.

Change. Inevitable. Unstoppable. Sometimes even inconsiderate. But isn’t that what we’re meant to do? We are always evolving, changing, getting older.

This shoot changed how I’ve felt about myself for far too long. I made every choice myself — my clothes, my makeup, my terms. No staging, no outside opinions. Just so much fun! The whole experience with Michelle made me feel so much better about who I am now.

How lucky I am to have made it to 60 in good health, still able to do everything I want, surrounded by people I love.

Piano instrumentals 🎹

This year, I’ve been working on a new project with @alslavikmusic–one of the most creative, sensitive, beautiful human beings and musicians I know.

We’ve been writing, producing and growing our catalogue of piano instrumentals since the spring/early summer.

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, and I am so grateful to Al for asking me to build something new with him.

Although it’s ‘just’ library music, that may disappear into the background, creating these little tunes one by one fills my heart with great joy–and hope. I love doing this work, and it serves as a repeated reminder that we always, always have new ideas, even when we feel we are empty (or, perhaps particularly during those empty moments).

Here’s the latest piece we’re working on. We’re calling this one ‘Morning Lullaby’.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Step outside, lift your face to the sun, keep exploring, keep discovering, keep building–especially when you feel empty.

George Michael's song “Older” has been playing over and over in my head. In 4 weeks I will be officially older — and this one will be what is often described as a milestone birthday.

It's a strange, almost foreign concept to me. I've never thought about my age much. I’ve never wanted to be younger or older (other than, perhaps, during a few of my very awkward teenage years!).
And while my reflection in the mirror may tell me otherwise, I don't feel old — and I can't really know how that's supposed to feel.

But ageing carries its own grace when I consider: George Michael didn't get to see his 60th birthday - and as we have all witnessed, particularly during these past 2 years, so many have been taken far too young.

And then there is the perception of time: Time has certainly taken on a new quality - time left and how I choose to spend this very precious time.

As I reflect on getting older, I also hear these words by the late @maryoliverofficial :
"It is a serious thing, just to be alive, on this fresh morning, in the broken world."

Here's to being alive. Here's to getting older. Here’s to discovering the NEW!
