A summer well spent on Deck 85. ☀️🥂

For the past few months, Summit Media has worked alongside @wildbirchhotel and @crimsonanchorage to build out the social story of Deck 85, capturing everything from the menu and cocktails to rooftop yoga, live music, events, and the people behind the experience.

Marketing a seasonal rooftop in Alaska comes with a unique challenge: when the weather is good, you have to make it count. With a limited number of sunny days to work with, we were intentional about maximizing content production whenever conditions lined up, capturing multiple concepts, menu items, lifestyle moments, and evergreen assets in a single shoot.

That strategy allowed us to build a strong bank of content throughout the summer while still keeping the feed timely, seasonal, and reflective of what was actually happening on the rooftop.
Now that rooftop season is wrapping up, we’re taking a second to appreciate just how much we were able to create in a very short Alaska summer.

Our newest ritual? A Little Rituals matcha. 🍵

Little Rituals is one of the newest additions to downtown Anchorage, serving thoughtfully crafted coffee and matcha alongside the beloved bagel creations from @907bagelco.

Getting the opportunity to be creative and build a custom library of photo and video content for them has been incredibly special, especially because the owners are two genuinely wonderful people.

Okay, this probably a LONG overdue introduction. 👀

Meet Mia, Summit Media’s Graphics & Content Intern!

Mia has already been behind the scenes helping with graphics, content creation, shoots, and plenty of the creative chaos that keeps Summit moving.

Originally from Austria, she moved to Alaska in 2021 and is currently studying graphic design at UAA. Outside of Summit, she’s usually reading, traveling, going to concerts, or finding a new art medium to get obsessed with.

She also, on very rare occasions, gets assigned the extremely important task of grabbing me a Red Bull or matcha. Very rare. Very serious. Very essential to operations.

Basically, if you’ve noticed Summit looking a little extra good lately, Mia has definitely had something to do with it. 😌

ZHU in Alaska.

I’ve been a fan of ZHU for years, so getting the chance to be part of this project was one of those full-circle moments that still doesn’t feel totally real.

Back in March, I joined @showdownalaska in Willow, AK to photograph ZHU during a live set in the middle of the Alaska wilderness. No crowd, no traditional stage, just snow, sled dogs, open sky, and one of the most surreal creative experiences I’ve ever been part of.

The full set is finally live, and I’m so excited to share a little behind the scenes from a day I’ll never forget.

I honestly still don’t think the news about @williwawsocial has fully sunk in yet. Anchorage won’t be the same without this place.

So much of my life over the past few years is tied to those walls. So many late nights in the green room editing photos on my laptop while hearing the crowd through the walls, rushing to get posts up before an artist hit the stage, watching the city come alive from backstage, and having those moments where I would stop and think, “I can’t believe this is real.”

A lot of my first real opportunities happened there. Some of my biggest career moments happened there. So many friendships, conversations, concerts, and memories happened there too. It became more than just a venue. In a weird way, it felt like home for a lot of us in Anchorage’s creative scene. It gave so many people a place to create, perform, celebrate, and feel connected.

I’m really grateful I got to experience it the way I did. Thank you to every and every single person who helped make that place what it was.

Really hard to imagine downtown Anchorage without it. ❤️

A year ago, this was just an idea I couldn’t stop thinking about.

Since then, it’s been a mix of late nights, tough decisions, small wins, big wins, and a lot of figuring it out as I go.

But somewhere in all of that, it turned into something I care about. Something I’m proud of. And more than anything, something that wouldn’t exist without the people around me.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to document a @redbullusa activation during the ceremonial start of the Iditarod here in Anchorage. 📸

The goal was to capture content that felt true to the environment, focusing on movement, interaction, and how the product naturally lived within the experience.

If you know me, I’ve been a fan of Red Bull for a long time, so getting to capture this and connect with the team made it especially meaningful. 🙏
