@kikicoconutbeach was exactly what @biz_e.t and I envisioned Phu Quoc to be like before we travelled here.

Although the area we stay in currently isn’t like this at all, it’s good to know that a 30min drive to the other side of the island you can find places like this 🥥🌴

Definitely the place to stay if you’re visiting Phu Quoc and just want that island style, slow living vibe 🐚🌀

Change is scary.

Especially when you’ve spent the last three or four years building a life that feels safe and familiar, and then one day you decide to sell almost everything you own, leave your pets with your family, pack up your life and move to a country you’ve never even been to before.

That’s exactly what we did.

We came to Vietnam knowing we had some security and a way to support ourselves. But emotionally, I don’t think I was prepared for just how much I was leaving behind.

My home. My comfort zone. My friends, family, pets and everything that made me feel safe.

When I arrived, things weren’t exactly how I had imagined them. I struggled. I missed home deeply and questioned whether I had made a huge mistake. For a while, I thought maybe this place just wasn’t for me.

But eventually, I decided to trust myself again.

I left the job I had originally come here for, even though it was scary, and somehow something new landed in my lap. Something I had actually been dreaming of doing for a while.

Now I’m doing work that excites me, and suddenly everything feels a little different.

I’m learning that you can find beauty in places that initially feel difficult to understand. Phu Quoc has its struggles, especially with pollution and waste, and I don’t want to ignore that. But there are also so many beautiful pockets of nature, culture and life here.

Sometimes you just have to look a little deeper.

Not to ignore what needs to change, but to understand it. And maybe let that understanding inspire you to be part of the change you wish to see.

I think that’s what change is teaching me most.

You don’t always have to know where you’re going. Sometimes you just have to be brave enough to leave what you know, trust yourself, and allow yourself to discover what comes next.

Because sometimes, on the other side of the thing you were most afraid of, is a life you couldn’t have imagined before. 🌿

And I know I couldn’t have done this without you by my side, @biz_e.t 🤍

Sneaky Finds 🥗☕️🥥

After a very successful hike, we stumbled upon a very authentic farm cafe/restaurant.

They have a beautiful koi pond, wobbly puppies and a stunning garden overgrown with many trees 🌲🌴🌱

For breakfast we had papaya smoothies, and for lunch we had a fresh mango and coconut salad with bamboo shoots and fish.

Unfortunately I didn’t capture our meals because we were absolutely ravenous, but I promise it was scrumptious!! 😍

Sometimes I think we all need a little reminder to not take life so seriously. ✨💫

I’ve always been someone who takes things to heart. I care deeply about the world, about doing the right thing, about becoming the best version of myself — and because of that, I can be pretty hard on myself when things don’t go the way I hoped.

I’ve experienced bullying, dealt with some very hard people, and spent a lot of my life feeling like I needed to get the good grades, get qualified, succeed, and get everything *right*. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting to grow, sometimes I forget that **making mistakes is part of the process too.**

Not everything has to be perfect. Not every failure is really a failure. Sometimes something doesn’t work out because it’s quietly leading you somewhere else, somewhere you wouldn’t have found otherwise. That’s the beauty of the journey. 🌱

And yes, there is a lot of darkness in the world. We should acknowledge it, care about it, and do what we can to make things better, **but we don’t have to let it consume every ounce of our energy.**

Sometimes we need to laugh at ourselves. Be silly. Be sarcastic. Take things with a pinch of salt. Have a ridiculous moment. 😂

Life is serious enough without us making it even harder on ourselves.

So this is a reminder to loosen up a little. To stop beating yourself up over the things you don’t always get right, keep moving forward, and remember that there is still so much good, laughter and joy to be found along the way.

You’re allowed to grow and still have a little fun while you’re doing it.🤍

SHOULD WE GET REAL FOR A MINUTE ? 💭

Life in Phu Quoc.

There are so many beautiful little pockets of this place like the scenery, the culture, the people, and those unexpected moments that make you stop and take it all in.

But living here has also been a really eye-opening experience. It’s shown me things I didn’t expect, challenged some of my perceptions, and given me a more realistic view of what life can actually be like in different parts of the world.

And while the things I’ve posted so far might give you a glimpse of the beauty, there’s a whole other side that hasn’t really made it onto my Instagram like the litter, the way animals are treated, and some of the less comfortable realities of everyday life.

I don’t want to create a picture-perfect version of a place when that’s not the whole story. At the same time, I don’t want to be unfair or simply focus on the negative either.

I think there’s something really valuable about seeing the world as it truly is…the beautiful, the uncomfortable, and everything in between.

Sometimes being exposed to different ways of life makes us question our own values, our choices, and the things we’ve become accustomed to.

And maybe that’s how we become a little more conscious of the world around us, and ultimately, make it a little better. 🌎

But, I also feel we need to be honest with ourselves and realise that humans are the problem and it’s time we try a little harder to become the solution to our own mess. 🪷 by @sun_fairy99
