Hi!! 🧡

I saw some users making this sort of posts and it seemed so fun to do! Some books came directly to mind, others I had to look up before the memories came back to me ....💭✨️

As a child, I really loved picture books with lot's of details and things going on. My parents also read me often to sleep 🌛 and there was óne story I always kept asking about (De Draak uit Plop 🐲) to read again and again.

In elementary school I became addicted to comic books (pictures again ;) ), the very famous Geronimo Stilton books and somehow a series of thriller/horror books🔪🩸😅 I lived a couple houses next to the local library and spend a lot of time there, reading between the shelves until the librarian sent me home 📚

Starting middle school around 2012 was THE perfect time for young adult books such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and Septimus Heap⚡️I remember The Hunger Games, Twilight and Divergent series were very popular too, but I never read those (except for THG only last year!). We even had a library in school were I spend many of my lunch breaks reading with friends 👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏽 Next to those very fantasy like books I also enjoyed the very Girly-girl books about fashion, friendship and first loves. 🎀🤭

In my late teens (around 16-19 y/o) I had to read a lot of books for school and assignments (since I was studying languages, I had to read in English, French and even German, as well in my mother tongue Dutch) and reading for pleasure decreased...and I started thinking all adult books were boring. 🫩
Because of all this, I almost didn't read any books (except school related books) for 4-5 years.

Since the beginning of 2023 -I was 23 and a half- I picked up this forgotten hobby again (thank you, W.). I was suffering from heartbreak and books helped me find my way back ❤️‍🩹 In the meantime, I am luckely convinced that "adult books" do not have to be boring 🎉
Now Im reading mostly fiction and graphic novels but also classics, fantasy, non-fiction, memoirs,....

Hi there 👋🏼 Meet my new bookshelves ✨️

I'm still in the proces of moving in with my boyfriend, hence the not-posting-much-while-I-just-promised-I-would-do-that-more-often-again 😆
But I aaaaalmost finished this bookshelves in our hobbyroom, so thought it was nice to show them off already 🤭📚 Also nice for myself to capture the change over time.

Also how cute is this room becoming [I only show you this side of the room, my boyfriends desk for mini painting is a mess haha] It still needs a bit work; I want a circle rug and some frames on the wall above the shelves for instance, but when it's done, it will be a very whimsical place to spend our (free) time in 🌿

Enjoy your Sunday! Im back to painting some doorframes and I think I will go get me an iced match in the local coffee bar around the corner 🌞🍵 how will you spend this pretty day? 😊

Some books don't need long reviews...

I can't think of a single thing I didn't love in this book. I loved the writing style, I loved the story, I loved the characters, I liked the pace,... 🧡🐙🫧🧼

If you like to read a slow, sweet (and kinda emotional) read about life and all what it brings to people, this book is for you

I also saw the movie recently, and man I was UGLY crying in the end 😭 [swipe to see my after-selfie], totally worth it 🐙

10 bookmarks, 10 books on my shelves to match them ✨️

I have a looot of pretty bookmarks, some I got for free or were gifted and some I paid a worthy amount of money for 🤭 It seemed fun to match them with books I own, as I try to pick a specific bookmark to accompany my reads 📖✨️
It was difficult to choose just 10, but these are for sure all favourites 🧡

Last weekend, I went to London for a short citytrip with my friends ☀️ which is not usual for me to do in between working weeks, but I would like to do more often. It's nice to spend some time elsewhere instead of waiting for a big vacation to arrive 🤭 (if your money lets you, ofc).

It was incredibly warm, each day around 32°C, but we cooled down by resting in parks, having enough café stops and taking the metro underground to save us time, sore legs and being out of the sun for a while.

We did a not of traditional attractions like having a high tea, enjoying a musical (Hamilton) and casually strolling through neighborhoods like Notting Hill and Camden 🧡🍰

Book shops were not really on the planning, but when we encountered a cute shop, we definitely went in for a look 😊 in the bookshop of Camden I bought 3 books because THOSE PRICES! How can you not?!

And 2 of them were in my list too, so happy happy me! 🛍

Almost never insta-buy books, let alone new hyped books,...

but this one was worth it. 😄

Sadly, I felt like I didn't know anything about Cleopatra before this read. This book is a historical fiction about her and told by her and I really liked it.

I liked her character and how different phases of her life are told in her own voice. Now and then she refers to later events happening or consequences, spoiling the reader just enough to trigger your curiosity. The surroundings and background settings are beautifuly described, you really feel ancient Egypt.

I went through it easily, reading it in my mother language Dutch, and imagine it will be even better in English.

You don't need to read in the sun to feel the Egyptian heath. ☀️🏜🏺

Ps: I first gave this book 4⭐️, switching it now to 5⭐️. It's definitely 4 or more, I don't know where to place it 🤪😆

With work, hobby's, a boyfriend, friends, favorite shows, sleep, sports,.... I don't have unlimited time to spend on reading. Sometimes I like doing something else instead, too. 🤭

I tracked how much a read in one of my average 40h work weeks 🕟 featuring 3 different books 📚

On Wednesday I went to a "book club" organized by my student club in Antwerp, but instead of reading the same book and discussing it, we all bring a book that we loved, are reading or want to read and do little games and prompts to talk about those. 🧡 This time we also wrote a story by continuing what the person before us wrote, without seeing more. Imagine 16 people doing that, it made the most hilarious tales 😆 (and of course we read them out loud)

I didn't read that evening, but talking about books makes up for that.

On Thursday I started with "Remarkably bright creatures", which I have finished by now and oh my... 🫶🏽🐙🫧 to be continued 😉

I got tagged by @libraryofaslowreader to partake in the Spring has Sprung book tag 🤗🌸💐

To be honest, this was a lot easier than I imagined it would be XP Bee's and Rainbows where a bit of digging so I hope I did those kinda right, I took a little freedom to adjust the prompt 🤭

I have really ✨️ NO✨️ idea what book releases each year brings since I have so many to read existing for years already. Though there are some graphic novels I'm excited for, both of these featured being the FINAL one of the series 🥺

March marks the transition from winter to spring ⚘️ The difference between the beginning and end of the month is huuggge when you think about it but I couldn't be happier with the clear, better, warmer weather coming through 🌞 Finally time after work to read in the SUN

I don't make tbr lists, I want to have free choice every time I finish a book, but I will mention the books I've read last month ✨️
I also did my first buddy read (yay) and will make a post about that later on hihi

🐣 Oh! And Easter(holidays) is coming up too! Do y'all have any plans? I myself got 3 full days off 🎉🎉 which I will spend with a Easter brunch and lots of chocolate hopefully 🍫 but next to that, no idea for the moment 😌
