Part 2 of the story I shared last week. If you missed it — the short version is I won a spot in a fashion show through a Teen Vogue contest, and still got body shamed by the woman running it. (Full story’s on our page if you want the context.)

I found some old photos from that day. I was super thin, and the clothes still didn’t fit me right. You can even see the bottoms bunching at my thigh, because the fit wasn’t actually built for the body wearing it. But I’ve learned that’s not a body problem, it’s a pattern problem! It happens at every size.

I’m learning to be happy in my body, whatever that looks like on a given day — and that’s exactly what I want for other women too.

I’ll keep saying it: every body deserves clothes that actually fit. That’s the whole reason Sunbottom® exists.

Most bottoms are designed around one fit model and then scaled up or down. If your shape doesn’t match hers, you get the waist doesn’t fit, the hips are all wrong. Then you walk out of the fitting room thinking something’s wrong with you.

Nothing is. That’s why my sister and I started Sunbottom. We spent months in the studio fitting real bodies, pinning and re-cutting until the shorts worked with us instead of against us. That process became the Curve Code™: bottoms built on your shape, not just your size.

You shouldn’t have to change yourself to fit your clothes. Your clothes should fit you.

A Teen Vogue contest put one of our founders in a real fashion show back in the day. The woman running it body shamed her for having a “different” body type (read: 🍑).

It wasn’t the only time, but it stuck with her. All of those moments are part of why Sunbottom exists now 💛. No more body shaming. No more changing ourselves to fit our clothes.
