A few great days in Southern California with good food, beautiful places, and great company.

Dinner at the @jonathanclub in Downtown LA and a fun evening at the @long_beach_yacht_club ⚓️🥂

After coming to Long Beach what feels like 1,000 times, I finally decided today was the day I’d check out @thequeenmary, a place I’ve somehow never visited.

The moment I stepped onto the Queen Mary, it felt like stepping back in time, into a completely different era, with a different way of life, different values, and a very different world.

The Queen Mary first entered service in 1936 and spent years carrying passengers across the Atlantic. During World War II, she was transformed into a troopship and transported thousands of servicemen, earning the nickname “Grey Ghost.” After the war, she returned to passenger service before making her final voyage in 1967 and eventually becoming permanently docked here in Long Beach.

But what I found most fascinating wasn’t just the history, it was the stories.

One of my favorite parts was hearing the voices and stories of people who actually experienced the Queen Mary. Some even returned decades later, after 60 years, to walk those same halls and relive a place that had been such an important part of their lives.

You can feel that history when you’re on the ship. It’s almost as if the memories are still there, the people, the energy, the excitement, the lives that passed through these rooms.

It’s strange to think that this world feels like it was so long ago… yet it really wasn’t.

Today was a nice little escape from the real world, stepping onto a ship and stepping back into another time. A different era. A different way of life. A reminder of just how much the world can change in a relatively short amount of time.

And after 1,000 trips to Long Beach… I’m glad I finally made this one. 🩵

P.S. The indoor lighting and glare made it tough to capture the history in photos, so I didn’t take many. I wanted to also just enjoy the moment, too.

🏠 CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THIS IS?

I just visited one of Long Beach’s most unusual landmarks, and it definitely makes you do a double take! 👀

Here are a few clues:

🔹 Built in 1932
🔹 Located at 708 Gladys Avenue in Long Beach
🔹 Three stories
🔹 Built on a lot measuring just 10 feet wide by 50 feet long
🔹 About 860 square feet
🔹 Built by Newton P. Rummonds after he was challenged to prove that a livable home could be built on such a tiny lot
🔹 It even leaned about 4 inches at one point before being straightened in 1959!

So… what am I standing in front of?

The “Skinniest House in America” — the Skinny House! 🏠

It has been recognized by Guinness and Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and the nickname has stuck over the years. Whether or not it technically holds the title today, it’s still one of Long Beach’s most unusual landmarks.

4 days of our nostalgic trip back in time! 💛

We had the best four days #glamping at one of our favorite places, @costanoalodge in Pescadero. The food, ocean views, and peaceful setting were just as amazing as we remembered. It really was the perfect place to spend a few days.

After moving to Florida four years ago, we honestly never thought we’d be back. We thought we were going to live in Florida for the rest of our lives, so being able to come back to one of our favorite places made this trip extra special. And we already can’t wait to come back again!

Such a fun four days of hiking, relaxing, beautiful views, and making new memories in a place we’ve always loved. 💛🙏🌿

🫐 Blackberry Days in @applehillofficial 🍎🍷

First stop was @highhillranch_applehill for one of their famous apple donuts and an apple wine slushy. 🍎 Then we headed over to @boavistaorchards for Blackberry Days, where I had a blackberry donut and a blackberry sangria. 🫐🍷

Such a fun way to spend the day enjoying some of the best seasonal treats Apple Hill has to offer!

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better… Chocolate Days starts August 20! 🍫😍

Had such a great night with my sister and niece! ❤️

They came up from Long Beach and my sister treated me to such a fun night. We started with dinner at @elladiningroomandbar in downtown Sacramento, which was so good, and then headed over to @golden1center for the @megmoroney concert.

The concert was really good and so much fun! Lots of energy, great music, and of course we had to buy some merchandise. 😂

It was just a really nice night spending time together and making some great memories. ❤️🎶

Spoiled my favorite niece with a little shopping spree at @brandymelvilleusa USA, followed by Italian food at @nardoitalian restaurant, a beach sunset, and a walk down the Huntington Beach Pier.

Memories made ✔️ 🤍🩵💛🧡

48 hours in 📍Mokelumne Hill felt like a step-back-in-time vibe, full of old-world charm and history, making it a relaxing little getaway. ✨🌿

There’s just something about California Gold Country, right? Slow little towns, amazing food, and a stay at the iconic Hotel Léger where you literally climb out your hotel window to get to the balcony 😏 Ghost stories over breakfast, wine tasting, live old-time music, and wandering through places that feel frozen in time.

It was simple, fun, and exactly what we needed ✨🌿

Explored a piece of Gold Country history at the Kennedy Gold Mine ⛏️

Just outside Plymouth, this spot is packed with stories from California’s gold rush days, plus some cool old mining structures.

Such a unique way to step back in time and soak in the foothill views ☀️
