For most people, Easter means a break.
For those who live the outdoors,
it means something else.
It’s the season of morels.
Something that has always been there.
Something passed down, step by step, generation after generation.
My ancestors were told these mushrooms were poisonous.
Today, they’re considered a delicacy.
Same forest.
Different knowledge.
The difference is learning.
The difference is observation.
Because the forest doesn’t change overnight.
But the way we understand it does.
You slow down.
You observe.
You search.
And in that process, you reconnect with your roots.
Because spring isn’t just a season.
It’s a return.

Per molti la Pasqua è una pausa.
Per chi vive l’outdoor,
è qualcosa di diverso.
È il periodo delle spugnole.
Qualcosa che esiste da sempre.
Qualcosa che si tramanda, passo dopo passo, di generazione in generazione.
I miei antenati li raccoglievano e venivano considerati dei pazzi in quanto questi funghi erano considerati da tutti tossici.
Oggi sono considerati una prelibatezza.
Lo stesso bosco.
Una conoscenza diversa.
La differenza è nell’apprendimento.
La differenza è nell’osservazione.
Perché il bosco non cambia da un giorno all’altro.
Ma il modo in cui lo comprendiamo sì.
Rallenti.
Osservi.
Cerchi.
E in quel processo torni alle tue radici.
Perché la primavera non è solo una stagione.
È un ritorno.

Sometimes the answer is already there.
You just need to slow down enough to see it.
Match the hatch.
Not just a rule.
A way of thinking.
Observing the water.
Understanding what’s really happening beneath the surface.
Recognizing patterns, movement, behavior.
This is where everything starts.
Because fishing isn’t only about casting better.
It’s about seeing better.
And that kind of awareness becomes part of your ROOTS.
Over time, I realized how much there is to learn.
And how important it is to keep learning.
One book that really changed my perspective:
Matching Baitfish — Kevin Feenstra.
A simple idea, explained deeply:
if you understand what fish are feeding on,
you’re already halfway there.
Not just for better results.
But for a deeper connection with the river.

Two years ago, I found a new kind of connection.
Not just to a place.
But to something deeper.
Sweden.
Cold water. Heavy currents. Endless casts.
Sea trout.
Wild, powerful, and incredibly fragile.
Nothing comes easy in these conditions.
You earn every moment.
Or you don’t get it at all.
I remember my first one.
Not for the size.
But for what it meant.
Because some experiences don’t just stay with you.
They shape you.
They become part of your ROOTS.
And looking back now, I realize:
It was never just about the fish.
It was about everything the river gave in between.

Due anni fa ho trovato un nuovo tipo di connessione.
Non solo con un luogo.
Ma con qualcosa di più profondo.
Svezia.
Acqua fredda. Correnti pesanti. Lanci infiniti.
Trote di mare.
Selvagge, potenti, incredibilmente fragili.
In queste condizioni nulla è facile.
Ogni momento te lo devi guadagnare.
Oppure non arriva.
Ricordo ancora la prima cattura.
Non per la dimensione.
Ma per ciò che rappresentava.
Perché alcune esperienze non restano soltanto.
Ti formano.
Diventano parte delle tue radici.
E oggi, guardando indietro, lo capisco bene:
Non era solo per il pesce.
Ma per tutto quello che il fiume mi ha dato nel mezzo.

The season opens,
and the river feels familiar again.
After months of waiting,
you step into the current with the same feeling you had the first time.
Expectation.
Anticipation.
A little uncertainty.
Because fishing teaches you something very simple:
nothing is guaranteed.
You can spend hours reading the water,
choosing the right fly,
making the perfect cast…
and still the river may decide to give you nothing.
This time there was no marble trout.
But the river still gave something back.
Cold water around the legs.
Clear currents moving through the valley.
A fish resting in the net.
Sometimes the catch is not the point.

That’s where our ROOTS are.

La stagione si apre,
e il fiume torna a sembrare familiare.
Dopo mesi di attesa,
entri in acqua con la stessa sensazione della prima volta.
Aspettativa.
Anticipazione.
Un po’ di incertezza.
Perché la pesca insegna una cosa molto semplice:
niente è garantito.
Puoi passare ore a leggere l’acqua,
scegliere la mosca giusta,
fare il lancio perfetto…
e il fiume potrebbe comunque decidere di non darti nulla.
Questa volta non è arrivata una marmorata.
Ma il fiume ha comunque restituito qualcosa.
L’acqua fredda sulle gambe.
La corrente che scorre nella valle.
Un piccolo pesce nel guadino.
A volte la cattura non è il punto.

È lì che affondano le nostre radici.

Snow isn’t just winter.
It’s storage.
It’s future.

When it falls silently on the mountains,
it isn’t stopping the season.
It’s preparing it.

In many mountain regions, 60–75% of a river’s annual water flow comes from winter snowpack melting in spring.

Every snowflake is water that will return to the river.
Flow that will grow when temperatures rise.
Life moving beneath the surface.

And yet, for those who fish,
winter is the hardest season.
Hands stiffen.
Movements slow down.
Takes become rare.

It’s not the season of ease.
It’s the season of acceptance.

Without snow there is no balance.
Without cold there is no strength.

Our ROOTS are built here too:
in staying when it would be easier to wait for spring.

È riserva.

Quando cade silenziosa sulle montagne,
non sta fermando la stagione.
La sta preparando.

In molte regioni montane, tra il 60% e il 75% dell’acqua dei fiumi durante l’anno deriva proprio dallo scioglimento della neve accumulata in inverno.

Ogni fiocco è acqua che tornerà al fiume.
È corrente che crescerà in primavera.
È vita che si muoverà sotto la superficie.

Eppure, per chi pesca,
l’inverno è la stagione più dura.
Le mani si irrigidiscono.
I movimenti rallentano.
Le catture diventano rare.

Non è il momento della facilità.
È il momento dell’accettazione.

Senza neve non c’è equilibrio.
Senza freddo non c’è forza.

This Valley is one of them. 🇸🇮
Turquoise waters, wild mountains, true silence.
Slovenia is a powerful reminder that nature is still alive — if we know how to listen.
For us, these are not just destinations.
They are our ROOTS.
Growing up in a valley means learning early that nature is not a backdrop.
It is home.
It is identity.
It is responsibility.
And beneath this crystal-clear surface lives something not everyone sees.
Trout. Wild. Free. Fragile.

Ci sono luoghi che non hanno bisogno di filtri.

Water turns cold,
the river narrows its path,
life doesn’t disappear — it waits.
This is where our ROOTS grow.
In waiting for new season.
In not giving up.
In nature, as in the outdoor activities,

Sometimes growth means endurance.
Sometimes it simply means knowing how to wait.
Then, slowly, something shifts.
And what held on… is ready to move again.

Not every step forward needs speed.
Sometimes improving means slowing down,
listening to the river,
letting time do its work.
Following the Kaizen mindset, growth isn’t about being the best,
but about being a little better than yesterday.
In the outdoors, that often means this:
finding calm, staying present, reconnecting with your ROOTS.
Because what shapes us most
isn’t the result,
but the path we choose to walk.

Marks, colors, imperfections earned slowly.

Different textures, same origin.
Everything here is shaped by nature.

That’s what ROOTS look like —
what makes you who you are.
