The Wylder

Can’t believe it’s already been a year since I made Wylder, he’s easily become one of my favorite cosplays I’ve made and I hope to continue to improve this build as I’ve done a few times over this year, he’s nearly where I want him to be! I’m looking forward to more adventures with Wylder! And maybe even adding one more Nightreign build to the list 👀

Just a week away! Time to announce I will not only be a featured guest this year but also one of the judges for the cosplay contest at @momocon this year!

As a local I love to support the Georgia cosplay community and conventions and personally love this convention, Its a pleasure to be a guest at one of my favorite cons! I’ll have a booth where you come say hi and chat with me alongside the other incredible cosplay guests!

I will be hosting a panel on Friday at 2:30pm in room A315/316 called “the cosplayers road: from beginners to pro” where myself and @cyberlillies will discuss what it takes to go from a beginner cosplay all the way to pro level and some of the techniques, ideas and disciplines that it requires as you level up your cosplay. Please come by and show support not only to me but also the cosplay contest! I can’t wait to see all the incredible cosplays on stage!!!

While my schedule will be a bit busy I wanted to share extra support to @thefoamory as they continue to outdo themselves with the repair lounge, with a better focus on speed and consistency it’s the most involved repair team any con has had the pleasure to have. Multiple contest winning artists like @cyberlillies (💛) @animauul, @solarwolfcosplay @foxc_cosplay and more to help get people back on the con floor and sometimes the prop may even leave the table in better condition then first recieved!

I’ll say this, for whatever it’s worth. I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it weren’t for competitions. The drive and goals one has when entering is more then most people ever strive for and I’d say it’s helped me push myself to new heights and more importantly meet people on the same page, the same care and the similar skill/talents. I’d say competing has helped me actually find my place in the cosplay community, while it’s not the only thing I contribute to i would say it was vital to my journey.

Cosplay while yes has many forms in here for the creative side not the showman/influencer side. I’d honestly say influencers have made it harder for dedicated artists and fans to thrive in spaces that were created by that very passion. I’ll value the opinion of someone who loves the craft enough to get their hands dirty and get to making despite the numbers it’ll do on social media. Competitors set the standard because they’re the most dedicated towards the craft. While yes it’s not for everyone, yes it’s tiresome, exhausting and most contests don’t even have a prize pool worth entering once you hit master level, it doesn’t change the fact the the people you meet behind the stage, you make friends for life and there is an entire community of competitors and judges who push each other to uphold good practice, share techniques and try to inspire the next person to push themselves to get up on that stage because it’s worth it, it’ll always be worth it and has a valid spot in every community, especially the cosplay community.

The last photo is important because mostly everyone in this room is a competitor or a judge and these people are some of the most wonderful people I could ever know and I met these people through competing, sharing experiences.. the wins, the loses.. the understanding of what we all go through has created the strongest bonds I’ve seen in cosplay, it has its place.

3 of my favorite games were released today.. Bloodborne 11 years ago, Dark Souls 3 10 years and Resident Evil 4 remake 3 years ago. What a day.. truly some of the most influential games for me and my art. Growing up RE4 was my favorite game and the remake exceeded all my hopes and dreams and as for Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, Fromsoft sparks my love for video games and how they could inspire me to create. I’m grateful for all 3 and the series they belong to. 💛
