Behind the Helmets: Daft Punk’s Relationship with Hedi Slimane The creative relationship between Daft Punk and Hedi Slimane dates back to the mid-2000s, when Slimane designed custom Dior Homme leather jackets for the French electronic duo, including pieces featured in their 2006 film ‘Electroma’. Their collaboration continued in October 2012, when Daft Punk produced an extended remix of Junior Kimbrough’s “I Gotta Try You Girl” for Slimane’s debut Saint Laurent SS13 womenswear runway. In 2013, the duo became the faces of the Saint Laurent Music Project, photographed by Slimane in custom black sequined Le Smoking jackets. The campaign coincided with their Random Access Memories era, further connecting their futuristic identity with Slimane’s rock-inspired tailoring.
