Craniosacral therapy is an invitation to become quiet enough to feel what the body already knows.

Through extraordinarily gentle touch, we listen for subtle rhythms and movements within the body. The places that may be holding, guarding, or waiting to soften.

There is no forcing, no correcting, no pushing the body into a predetermined shape.

Instead, we create space and provide encouragement.

Space for the nervous system to settle.

Space for the breath to deepen.

Encouragement for what has been held to begin to move.

Encouragement to remember that healing does not always require effort.

The body like a tree does not force itself open. It roots deeply, reaches toward the light, receives the rain, and responds to the seasons.

Beneath the surface, its roots are in constant relationship with the earth and the living world around it.

We are not separate from this same wisdom.

There is something ancient in this kind of listening: the practice of approaching the body with reverence rather than trying to conquer it.

Many Indigenous traditions, including those of the Shawnee people, hold profound teachings about relationship, reciprocity, and listening to the living world.

I honor those traditions as distinct lineages and as reminders of a way of being in which healing can arise through attention, relationship, and respect.

Craniosacral work comes from its own lineage within osteopathic medicine and formerly the Shawnee people of the Ohio Valley region.

What draws me to it is the possibility of meeting the body in that same spirit of humility: with soft hands, an open mind, and a willingness to listen before we act.

Like a tree returning to its roots, we can sometimes discover that beneath all the striving, holding, and doing, there is a quieter intelligence waiting for our attention.
Sometimes the gentlest touch can open a surprisingly deep doorway.

You don’t have to make anything happen.

You simply arrive, become still, and listen.

And, little by little, come softly into self.

Book a session with me to see what it’s all about.

Allow me to reintroduce myself and my work…
My name is Rebecca Sunshine, but most people call me Sunny.

Some people call me Sunny Love… and honestly, I really like that!

Pronouns: she/ her.

Someone once described me as ā€œprofessional, original, and knowledgeable wrapped up in a burrito-cloak of post-psychedelic enlightenment,ā€ and this still feels accurate.

Sunny Love Healing is a multidisciplinary healing arts practice devoted to helping people land softly into self.

The heart of the work currently includes craniosacral therapy, massage therapy, somatic movement and @blissbodyenergy

My approach has been shaped by world travels, psychic sensitivity, incredible parents and phenomenal siblings, queer feminism, 30+ years of dance training, 20 years of Yoga studies, 12 years of Vipassana meditation, 10 years of Zen Buddhist studies, 9 years of bodywork experience, 7 years of biomechanics, 4 years of craniosacral therapy training and supervision, ecstatic dance, axis syllabus, Feldenkrais, Yin, Body-mind centering, developmental movement patterns, raving, grief, and the way sand falls through the cracks.

The people drawn to this work are often seeking belonging, relief, reconnection, and a way back to themselves that feels real and embodied. They value healing that is intentional, inclusive, and rooted in mutual care.

My work especially resonates with women and femme-identifying people, creatives, sensitives, intuitives, and those who have always felt a little different.

Across all of my offerings, sessions are collaborative and responsive,Ā creating space for open dialogue and real-time unfolding.

And this is only the beginning of what’s unfolding next.

Keep an eye on this space for upcoming events, gatherings, workshops, and offerings I’m deeply excited to share with you soon.

New era. New energy. Same Sunny Love.

The hypnogogic state 🫠

The space between wakefulness and sleep:
A transitional state of consciousness.

Hypnagogia occurs when:

~ fast beta waves (associated with active thinking) decrease and alpha waves take over

~ you drift deeper toward Stage 1 non-REM sleep, alpha waves drop below 50% and theta waves emerge and is the core frequency where hypnagogic imagery and abstract associations occur.

~ brief periods of electroencephalogram (EEG) signal flattening or desynchronization can also happen alongside these slow waves, mimicking aspects of REM sleep

It’s in this space where the wisdom of my clients’ bodies have been able to point me in all of the right directions to support their healing and deep release.

In this respect, craniosacral therapy sessions become a collaboration between client and therapist.

When you move half as fast, you notice twice as much.

Dropping into this space comes with unique physiological signs of release on the client’s end:

~ a deep exhalation

~ swallowing

~ jerks and muscle spasms

~ eye movement

~ spiraling at the atlas juncture

The client may or may not be conscious of the above, but many come away from the sessions sharing about:

~ hallucinations

~ color pops/ flashes

~ lucid dreaming

~ weightlessness

~ ease

There is so much we don’t know about the craniosacral system (which consists of brain, spinal cord, cerebral spinal fluid and lots of connective tissue) because it’s a system that’s very difficult to study on a living being and the details of the underlying anatomical system itself is largely undecided amongst mainstream medicine.

This encourages me and my colleagues to stay curious and hold our models loosely.

The feedback from clients and the effects I’ve witnessed with my own eyes keeps me passionate about the efficacy of this work.

If you’re in the Portland area, it would be an honor to work with you!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much being invited motivates me to show up especially when the invitation is rooted in shared history, lineage, and the complicated, beautiful ways we inherit belonging across a diaspora.

At the start of the year, I said no to two festivals, even when I couldn’t yet name what I was saying yes to instead. The yes wasn’t clear; I just felt, somewhere deeper than logic, that my sense of belonging was being pulled toward something else.

This season of the High Holidays has made me sit with that feeling. Rosh Hashanah asks us what we want to carry into another year; Yom Kippur asks us to pause, return, release, and begin again. It feels like a fitting time to listen more closely to what feels like an invitation.

To be intentionally selected; to hear we thought of you; we want you here; this is yours too…means more to me than I’ve always known how to articulate.

Sometimes saying no to something is saying yes to something else, even when you don’t know what that something is yet.

Thank you, @chaialeh , for inviting me to be a part of your residency, @echoesofthearchive . There was something deeply meaningful about entering a space centered on memory, inheritance, political resistance, doykeit (bloom where you are planted) and what remains.

To be invited into that remembering and experience every artist and participant involved felt like being connected to the threads that brought us here in the first place.

Maybe honoring an archive is not simply looking back, but recognizing ourselves within what has been left behind and choosing, with care, what we carry forward.

Shanah tovah. May we find the invitations that bring us closer to our roots, to one another, and to who we are still becoming.

B & M got married šŸ„¹šŸ˜šŸ„°ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„
Magical day at @windmountainranch

Blair was my first friend in Portland. We met at a yoga teacher circle in the summer of 2020.

It was love at first sight and it’s been such a joy to walk alongside each other in this life. Witnessing each other’s growth, abundance and integrity.

Being a part of this union felt so special! Micah and Blair make partnership look so fun and rewarding.

August was the Ace of Cups in every way šŸ˜

Overflowing love, spiritual awakening, deepening friendships, family bonding, and deep healing.

I reimagined what my life could look like and took intentional steps to get me closer to that dream

I celebrated some of my best friends getting married

I co-hosted another tea ceremony and group cranio portal

I nourished myself with yummy food, long walks, moments to pause

I let myself be held by some of my favorite cuddle buddies

I spent time with family and laughed my ass off with my dad

I visited courier and Soen countless times

I reconnected with my mentor and favorite teacher to nerd out on our shared cadaver dissection experiences

I held so many beautiful clients and witnessed profound emotional releases

I shared meals with best friends

I went to a speed dating event and was reminded of the abundant love that already surrounds me

I broke through inner walls and mended some of the most important relationships of my life

I hosted another sold out bliss body

Celebrating dear friends and a growing community 🄰
We love you @totallydead @gordanjace

Finding friends in adulthood has been one of the greatest testaments to the work I’ve done on myself and to the humility of realizing I will never know it all.

It has asked me to soften. To listen. To stay curious. To let people surprise me. To learn and unlearn, to grow alongside one another, and to repair when things inevitably get messy.

We are all moving along different timelines, somehow still traveling on the same one. Arriving at different seasons, carrying different stories, becoming different versions of ourselves, and still finding our way back to each other.

There is something so beautiful about witnessing the people you love step into new chapters. To celebrate not just the milestones, but the becoming. The tender, messy, miraculous becoming.

This b2b baby shower was a reminder that friendship can be a place of vulnerability, curiosity, care, laughter, and growth. A place where we get to be witnessed as we change, and where there is room for all the versions of ourselves we’ve been and are still becoming.

So grateful to gather around new life, new beginnings, and the people who make life feel a little more held.

Here’s to growing: individually and together. To making room for each other’s becoming. To showing up with open hearts, soft hands, and a willingness to keep learning.

And to the beautiful reminder that there is no single timeline for a meaningful life. We’re all becoming in our own time, together. šŸ¤ by @sunnylovehealing
