Wood sandpiper: This bird is usually found on freshwater during migration and wintering. They migrate to Africa, Southern Asia, particularly India, and Australia.
The wood sandpiper breeds in subarctic wetlands from the Scottish Highlands across Europe and then east across the Palearctic.

To see first hand the impact that our trash has on the natural world is devastating. To see that plastics is just a part of these gannets everyday life is devastating.

These birds doesn't know any better than bringing the plastic back to the nest as building material. They do not know that they are centimeters away from choking at all times. This risk is shared by their chicks who will grow up in the vicinity of fishing line, tape and nets.

This problem isn't limited to birdcliffs and the ocean. I see plastics everywhere i venture in nature, from remote marshes to the meadows.

It is up to us to find a cleaner, more renewable alternative to plastics. Both for ourselves and the climate, but also to balance our impact on nature🌱

Project _2 With Small Difference
Of the many threats facing honey bees, this parasitic Varroa mite is the most universal problem.
They crawl into the chambers where larval bees develop (the broodcells) and suck their hemolymph (insect blood).
This generally doesn’t kill the bees outright, but it weakens their immune systems and makes them more vulnerable to diseases, many of which the mites spread themselves.
These weakened bees also have a harder time detoxifying the pesticides and other agricultural chemicals they come in contact with while pollinating our crops. This means that bee colonies with heavy mite infestations are more likely to collapse if there is a food shortage or if they are stressed by some other factor.
This animation, like the previous one of the emerging bee, shows how focus-stacking is used to create the depth of field necessary to show the mite at high magnification.
This time, it took 200 images to show all of the details because the mite is only 2mm wide.
I used a 10x microscope lens attached to an SLR and moved the camera using a motorized rail made by Cognisys.
The images were merged using a program called Zerene Stacker. The mite is shown here atop a bee pupae. by @sunprtk

Over the hill stands his harem of hinds, in the morning mist.
We could only listen
and admire his beautiful singing, coming
from within the forest. However, walking
too close to his females may just result in him showing you who's in charge☺️

Spotted flycatcher
A few cirrus clouds ☀️ Distant view 🤗
On the way out, listening to the voices of the flycatchers... I thought I would be at the top again today... But just before the summit, I saw blues.
Aiming for the Mikado swallowtail from the butterfly path, but I can't see the shadow of a butterfly... There are no pictures that can be identified as those taken with the camera😓
you can hear the voices of the blue black-eye butterflies, but here you can only hear the beautiful voices of the black-eye...so pleasant to hear.
On the way back, we went down the mountain while listening to the voices of the flycatchers as we did on the way out.

This bird always reminds me of the chemistry lab. Where a light blue or bluish-green (verditer)pigment, is typically prepared by adding chalk or whiting to a solution of copper nitrate. After which this bird got its name.
