We are beyond excited to welcome the legendary Breakbeat Lou to Miller Branch for a special Latin Heritage Month event!

This year marks the 40th year anniversary of his Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, a major source for “golden era hip-hop” producers that would go on to soundtrack countless classics in multiple genres of music. Its impact is still felt to this day.

Come through as we build with Lou about his journey in and contributions to the culture!

Lou will be in conversation with the great DJ @_maleet_

Both will spin a set of their favorite records. Come through! October 17th 1pm-3pm

I’ll have better pics soon but a huge thank you to all who showed up and got down at our Soul Train event at Miller! Wilma Ann was equally amazing in conversation with author/dancer Stephen McMillian (with the 🔥 45 belt buckle), and fronting the Soul Fanatics. One of my favorite nights in this 20+ year journey. Good times, indeed. by @sunraw1977

9/26 come through for a special after hours event with one of the original Soul Train dancers and JC native, Stephen McMillan!

Stephen will sign some books and we’ll follow up with some live music and a DJ.
Yes, there will be a scramble board. And maybe some prizes.

Do they still sell Blue Magic?

Another year gathering to salute one of the greatest.

Screening videos from Grief Pedigree, which I’m just realizing had a video for every song shot by Mimi Valdes and directed by Ka. Still remember half listening for the first time and feeling bored in 2012 before a line caught me, made me rewind, and undivided attention since.

Salute to @mimivaldes and @mahershalaali

Hope they keep this going for the rest of the catalog. by @sunraw1977
