Color War at Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island and Pearl River looks like this thanks to the Amazin’ Mets Foundation.

Their support does two things. It brings the cheers, the teamwork, and the full-tilt joy of Color War to our Long Island and Pearl River campers. And it sends 20 children to Sunrise Day Camp this summer at no cost to their families.

That is a full summer of friendship, swimming, sports, and ordinary childhood for kids who have every reason to miss out on it.

Color War broke out at Sunrise day camps across the country this summer, and every bit of it traces back to one family.

The Rosenbergs have been part of Sunrise for more than two decades, from a STEAM program on Long Island to beautiful spaces at camp to a $1M investment in Sunrise's national growth. For years, Michael Rosenberg has made Color War unforgettable. The costumes. The decorations. The t-shirts. The confetti cannons.

This year the Laura Rosenberg Foundation is underwriting Color War 10 Sunrise day camps across the country.

All of it so kids can be kids.

Meet Sophia DeBellas, Sunrise's very first Virginia B. Toulmin Leadership Scholar.

Sophia joined the Sunrise family as a volunteer in 2023. Right now, she's a counselor at @sunrisedaycampstatenisland, helping kids with cancer and their siblings just be kids. A pediatric cancer survivor and public health student at Nova Southeastern University (@nsuflorida), she's now starting a year of mentorship with our CEO Arnie Preminger and Sunrise's senior leadership team as one of the next great women leaders in mission-driven work.
