All I wanted this year was to be with those I love most and to touch all the grass.

Thankful for every sunrise, but cherishing 35 years of them today. Happy Virgo season, and may the odds be ever in your favor ♥️. by @sunshine.and.freckles

Soooooo fluffy! When the internet said they would grow a ton in the first few days I believed it, but I didn’t realize it would be so much and so quick. 🐥🐥 by @sunshine.and.freckles

And just like that, chaos ensues.

We picked up five Rhode Island Red chickies and have 2 Easter Egger girls on the way.

I’ve been warned about the foxes and the raccoons. What else do I need to know? by @sunshine.and.freckles

Don’t mind me, I’m just hungry. But for real though, whose Black-owned restaurant will do this? Please.

Not bad for not deciding what we would eat until 4:30 🙃

Maximum effort on these tomatoes 😅. The priority was getting them prepped for freezer preservation and so this was a success.

I’m not quite yet comfortable with canning, but we’ll get there. I’m just glad nothing went to waste because I was tired.

In the end, we got 13 quart bags of sauce and diced tomatoes. I did not measure how much went into the bags after the first bag. 🤷🏽‍♀️😬.

My house isn’t perfect, my kitchen isn’t perfect, and real life is happening here. But, my family is getting all my love and effort, and that’s what matters and that’s real life. And no, I’m still not doing that laundry. I’m making curry for dinner, instead.

Added for the nerds like me: we did beefsteak, cherry, Roma, and Cherokee purple tomatoes. Everyone has their preferences on which tomatoes to use for sauce and I will use them ALL. by @sunshine.and.freckles

Just doing a little ✨experiment✨. Wish me luck!

Everything we harvested this week plus the sweet potato patch that is no longer being terrorized by the cute, chunky guy.
