Systemic sexism dressed up as office culture.

According to one of my senior leaders, my job was to “bat my eyelashes.” He said this while literally drawing a face with long lashes on the whiteboard.

At a team offsite, I sat with three male colleagues as they played “fuck, marry, kill” using names of women we worked with. That same senior leader said he’d fuck me, not marry me, because I “talk too much.” Another colleague said he’d kill me-because I “scare him.”

At a company-hosted event, I was seated next to a media agency owner. I thought it was a moment of trust-that I was being seen, respected, and given a seat at the table. Later that night, another one of my senior leaders told me he’d placed me there because he was “pimping me out.”

Women often stay silent in these situations not because we lack strength, but because we’ve been conditioned to believe that speaking up could cost us.

A few weeks ago, I went to HR. I shared all of this-and more-including the bullying my team and I had endured for months, but were too scared to report. That same afternoon, I was let go. I was “not a good fit.” In other words: I don’t brush off bullying or stay silent when you sexualise me to diminish my worth.

Since I left, their priority hasn’t been accountability-it’s been damage control. Not for the harassment, bullying, or toxic culture I called out, but for the revenue I helped build. The focus has shifted to rewriting the story by discrediting me and protecting their own positions.

To any woman who’s ever been minimised, objectified, or silenced at work: your voice matters more than their comfort.

If they get rid of you for being “not a good fit,” they’ve done you a favour.
