UNHRD SOUND:NORTH CAROLINA

Suns know one wobbly guitar sound can carry a whole song. In “World Eater,” it bends and shivers through the quieter parts with the sick pull of Johnny Marr. The guitar sound pulses through heavy tremolo, so the chords seem to swell, disappear, and come back in waves.

There is that same uneasy amount of empty space too. Where it hangs until the band comes crashing in with thick ’90s alternative fuzz, heavy rhythmic drums, and a vocal sound that feels worn raw rather than carefully sad. Giving the song a late-night, emotionally stranded feeling.

It falls somewhere between Chevelle’s weight and the softer, more exposed side of Deftones. The lyrics are a confession by someone who admits they let desire become their religion and paid for it with pieces of themselves.

The world eater isn’t a giant thing in the sky. It is a person/drug/feeling you worship. The need you feed when devotion grows teeth.

Almost one month since our new EP “World Eater” dropped.

People have called it many things. Music. Acceptable. Sexy. The album that finally took Mitch McConnell out.

Whatever you call it, we hope you like it. Happy Saturday. by @sunsnc
