“Fire Red Phoebe” ❤️ i will never get over her, she’s my fave oil pastel piece i’ve done so far. it’s me, but as a flower! it’s also time for me to get a new sketch book so i can add to my oil collection too.

(i know peabo was hollering on this song, but it was in my head when i drew this bc it was hot af outside that day lmao)

but really i’m here because the 3rd slide is so reallll. if you would’ve told me this years ago, i wouldn’t have saw any correlation between my sensitivity and the need for routine. buttt i’ve been so busy with a project i’ve been doing for work, so i kinda fell off my routine the last week or so and yea.. big difference. i noticed that without it, it’s so much easier for me to get scatter-brained, overwhelmed, and overstimulated. then i get frustrated and start avoiding my tasks. idek how i spent all those years just winging it every single day 😭 but i’m so excited to get back to my morning walks and my bedtime💕 it really helps regulate my nervous system so i can focus when i need to and frolic when i feel like it!!! also the past two weeks have just felt so exhausting but exhilarating too, idk. more on that later. by @sunspokenn

this is the longest fiction piece i ever wrote and i appreciate it so much cause i put so much love in it. it’s the most detailed story i’ve done bc it’s my real life 😭 as much as it does reference alice in wonderland (my favorite animated movie & storybook to exist), it’s also a story of my own. this excerpt takes place after my own metaphorical fall down a rabbit hole and where i was mentally after experiencing so much sudden change in my life. now i’m working on completing it for my substack :))) by @sunspokenn

mini dump: my sister & i went to this record shop last weekend while we were on a side quest (remember well by the holydrug couple was playing when i took these photos, i love psychedelic sounds) + i’ve been listening to the outkast album in slide 3 a LOT. i don’t have a record player (yet) but i really enjoyed being in here so i might get one so i can start collecting more physical media. they also had a really cool collection of CDs and a few books on music history. music is a really integral part of my life and i think it would be really sad if the collection of my music taste died with the streaming era (if the apps went down for example) and i just had nothing to show for it. crazy bc streaming makes music super accessible to the consumer (providing access but not ownership) while simultaneously disparaging artists.. normal, but weird. by @sunspokenn

“Stones + Spells” ⭐️ I love writing because I always somehow end up referencing songs I love.

I’ve been in a “Baduizm” and “Mama’s Gun” phase lately. The way that Erykah Badu captures the complexities of love in every way, she takes you with her as she’s processing the experiences of her internal and external world, while trying to understand her relationship with herself at the same time. She writes every doubt, every change of heart, every moment of certainty and every misunderstanding. Sometimes all on the same song. Many of the songs feel like she never arrives at a solution, and maybe she wasn’t looking for one. The best part about her lyrics is while she’s talking about the way she feels, she always takes accountability for the role she plays in her suffering, not to the point of blame, but in acknowledgment that she has contributed to the confusion and conflict in her life. You can hear it in the lyrics of songs like “No love,” “Certainly,” and “Green Eyes.” by @sunspokenn

I found a journal prompt that I really liked here on IG but I felt like it wasn’t getting deep enough, so I created this shadow work exercise around it. series of visuals that i’ve been ruminating on the last couple weeks . not sure if it is the colors or the stories behind some but just to explore the colors: i’ve been reaching for blue more and someone recently pointed out the use of blue in Black art. made me think of how it’s commonly associated with sadness, but idk it connects more to me as depth. i feel like red exposes but blue cloaks its depth and intimacy. you have to get in the water to really find out what’s in it and i think that’s both scary and exciting. its inviting but mysterious. undeniably beautiful. a lot of these photos kinda play with blue & red. that said, i think the painting of the baby girl with the alligator is my fave rn. she looks like Troy from Crooklyn but if she was in Daughters of the Dust. i see me in her🥲 must find the artist! by @sunspokenn
