Stephen King's classic terror comes to life onstage. "Carrie: The Musical" brings the rock-fueled, blood-soaked story of a bullied outcast and her devastating prom night to SUNY Cortland this October, just in time for spooky season.

Visceral, suspenseful and surprisingly moving. This cult classic turned stage musical leans into everything that made the original story unforgettable: telekinetic terror, teenage cruelty, and one unforgettable night that goes catastrophically wrong. And with performances in the intimate Lab Theatre, you won't just watch Carrie's story unfold, you'll be close enough to feel it.

The cast of CARRIE: THE MUSICAL is deep in rehearsal, and the story is starting to take shape: the music, the movement and the tension building toward a prom night no one will forget. Rehearsals are loud, focused and occasionally ominous, with a healthy amount of laughter in between.

Beautiful and Unsettling....
The design team presented their concepts to the cast and creative team: sets, costumes, lights and sound shaping Chamberlain, from the White household to the infamous gymnasium. Sketches, color palettes and soundscapes gave the company its first look at how the story will unfold.

The first rehearsal for "Carrie: The Musical" began with introductions, a look at the work ahead and a shared question: What excites each person about telling this story?

For the cast and creative team, the answers ranged from the score’s driving energy to the challenge of telling something suspenseful, visceral and surprisingly moving in the intimate Lab Theatre. Some cast members couldn’t wait to find out exactly how their characters meet their fates, proving that in this show, the dying is half the fun.

How do you make a window slam shut with a thought? How do you turn a gym red, make an interrogation feel inescapable, or make prom night magical and horrifying in the same breath?

You build it, cue by cue, with a skilled and dedicated crew.

Meet the team bringing the telekinetic terror of “Carrie: The Musical” to life in the intimate Lab Theatre. Their work is the reason Carrie’s power looks real, and when everything runs seamlessly, you’ll never see their hands at all.
