A hens weekend away. An uninvited lesbian. And no way out.

Ari’s distaste for her best friend Emily’s fiancé has landed her uninvited from the hens weekend away.
So, armed with a bag of ketamine and a resolve to save Emily from a lifetime of bad sex and the intimate hell of mothering a fully grown man, Ari crashes the weekend only to be accused of being an ‘overstepping, self-righteous psycho lesbian’. As Ari tries everything to convince Emily to say ‘I don’t’, the night turns sinister, fuelled by a deadly cocktail of high school resentments and disturbing revelations.

Fear, humiliation, female friendship and a cardboard cut-out of Chris Hemsworth, GETAWAY is Bridesmaids meets Bodies Bodies Bodies in a grandma-chic Airbnb in rural NSW.

The more things seem to change. Beloved Booker friends and family, we’re shifting a few things over here since we wrapped up our inaugural magazine. Looking towards Eora independent arts across page, stage, screen, and events, and bringing a little colour to match, but keeping our firm love for the independent and the alternative at the centre.

Welcome Super Imposition

Goodbye forEVER!! ⚫ Did we mention this is the last Booker Magazine ever? For a little peek behind the curtain, here’s our editorial team @defunctgirl @kamymurphy @rileycurtain @claudia_mj_h signing off for the last time.

Your beautiful publisher Alexander Booker dreamt this magazine up in 2023, recruited dear Kamyar Murphy for issue 003 some months later (alongside lovely @larensmall, now having left us to rural Germany), and from issue 006 the two became four with Canberra’s most enigmatic Claudia Hunt and Riley Curtain of @artatmoonlighting. We’ll leave the rest to your imagination. It has been the joy of our young lives to make this magazine, and we’re going out with a BANG of a final issue and a final party.

Don’t miss your chance to give us a kiss goodbye, and to fill your eyes and your mind with the very best of Eora/Sydney’s emerging creative art featured in issue 008—this very Thursday 23rd April!

Tickets in bio, and love in our hearts.

Yours,
The Booker Magazine Editorial Team by @super__imposition

Don’t missed this stacked lineup for the EIGHTH AND FINAL edition of Booker Magazine, launching Thursday 23rd April.

ZSA ZSA (they/them) is a Gadigal Country based, self-produced alt-dance and pop artist. Their debut album Weak Spot is a collection of music about vulnerability as power.

SWEET BOY SONNET is an electronic artist and producer from Eora/Syd. She is a powerful performer with a mercurial voice that explores punk, rock and electronica.

Ziggy Resnick (@ziggyresnick) will be performing in the upcoming Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead at the Belvoir Theatre, opening March 28.

Adapted by Eamon Flack from the masterpiece novel by Olga Tokarczuk, Drive Your Plow is an eco-feminist murder mystery where complexity of politics and ecology takes centre stage. Booker Magazine’s Charlie Blomfield speaks to actor Ziggy Resnick about the borders of reality on stage, identity, and catharsis for the upcoming Issue 008 — launching April 23.

Tickets are available now for Drive Your Plow at Belvoir’s upstairs stage. taken in Belvoir St Theatre by @super__imposition
