@ operation_moksha : Personal power is either developed for the benefit of others, or at their expense.

With each new bid for power, comes the opposite voice that asks us how our new power will impact others.

What they’ll say
What they’ll think
What they’ll feel
Etc

Now some people block this voice out because it sounds like insecurity, it sounds like fear.

But what it is, is empathy.

We’re supposed to care what people think.
We’re supposed to care what people feel.

We’re supposed to care about the impact we have whether it be intentional or not.

When we block this voice out, we become narcissistic.

We become blind to the impact we have on others and care only for our own personal power.

But when we listen to this voice for what it is, we become wise and skillful.

We become aware of the ways we might actually harm someone, or make ourselves look foolish.

We become aware of the potential impact of our actions and can plan accordingly.

We can make sure that we truly are speaking and behaving in a way that we can be proud of.

That if anyone is hurt or offended, that it was a necessary function of speaking and acting with a skillful and empathetic application of truth.

Rather than a blind, callous offense that could have been avoided.

When we listen to the voice that asks us how our bids for power will impact others, we become the type of person who can use their power for the benefit of others.

When we block that voice out, we also block out the concerns of everyone it represents.

We will cause unnecessary harm because we simply didn’t look at how to avoid it.

We must see this voice for what it is, empathy disguised as insecurity.

We must honor it.

It’s the difference between becoming benevolent ruler or a selfish tyrant.

The fate of your Kingdom depends on it.
