One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a love for reading and a strong connection to who they are and where they come from. 📚🪶

During the Cherokee Nation National Holiday, I had the opportunity to purchase The Land of the Great Turtles from Cherokee author and storyteller Brad Wagnon. It has been a joy reading his book to my children and sharing stories that celebrate our Cherokee culture, history, and traditions.

Another successful District 5 Community Cleanup! 🧹♻️

Today, we held our 32nd District 5 Community Cleanup at Monterey Tract Park, continuing our efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean and strengthen our communities.

Thanks to the participation of local residents, five bins totaling 15,000 pounds of trash and debris were hauled off to the county landfill!

A special thank you to all the community members who came out and helped make today’s cleanup a success. Your commitment to taking pride in our neighborhoods continues to make a difference throughout District 5.

It was an honor to attend the dedication of the Blue Star Memorial Marker at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman. 🇺🇸

A special thank you to Linda Ouse and all of the organizers who worked to make this meaningful ceremony possible. I also want to recognize the Newman-Gustine Garden Club and Hills Ferry Cemetery District for their partnership and commitment to honoring those who have served our country.

The Blue Star Memorial is a lasting reminder of the sacrifice made by the brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform — those who served in the past, those serving today, and those who will answer the call in the future.

Another successful District 5 Community Cleanup! 🧹♻️

Over the weekend, we held our 31st District 5 Community Cleanup in Keyes, bringing neighbors and community partners together to help clean up our community.

In total, five 40-yard bins filled with trash and debris were hauled off to the landfill.

A special thank you to the Keyes Fire Department, Love Keyes, and everyone from the community who came out and helped make today’s cleanup a success.
