Around this time, 2 years ago, I chose to become a meditator in the Vedic tradition.

At the time I just wanted peace - I’d just left a relationship. I had increased responsibilities at work. I couldn’t sleep without smoking myself into a coma. I would fall asleep with the TV on bc without it I couldn’t escape my endless circular thoughts.

It was like I had a hundred tabs open in the browser of my brain. I was so out of touch with my body I completely ignored or desensitized myself to the stress signals it was sending me to slow down or breathe until I would snap under all the demands coming my way.

I began diving into myself on a personal development journey, and almost every book I was reading had the same message: ‘Stillness’. Loud and clear. I’d never really meditated before. I questioned if it would really even work for me - but, I knew I needed stillness and to reconnect with my body, so I decided to learn Vedic meditation.

Day 1 we got our personal mantras and as soon as I meditated for the first time, I was enveloped in a shroud of stillness, or transcendence. I had no idea that’s what I was experiencing, I just knew it felt refreshing - not only in the moment but for long after we finished.

I didn’t realize I’d just given myself the greatest gift, a technique to effortlessly and easily remove accumulated stress from my body. The results, for me, were immediate - the demands of the day began to roll off my back, all my interactions improved, and I began to sleep naturally and deeply.

2 years later, I feel as fortunate as ever to have found a practice that is not only beneficial, but also has a wealth of deep knowledge that is extremely fascinating. I feel like a newly minted version of myself and know that inner peace I’ve been building will only continue to grow. I still have so much growth and expansion to do, but I no longer feel stuck and weighed down by the stress, anxiety, and dysfunctional patterns of my past.

I’m endlessly thankful to my teacher and friend @blaisejames and to this wonderful tradition for reminding me that ‘You deserve the best.’ 😌

One of the most beautiful and surreal experiences - I felt so moved floating above this incredible landscape, watching all these balloons drift up like hundreds of lanterns as the golden dawn spread across these ancient volcanic lands.

Witnessing the glory of the earth in her natural form, to me, makes me feel closer to god and the eternal universal spirit than any church or temple could.

Simply spectacular ✨

Lover Girl Era 💟
