I’m so glad to finally share this song with you all. It’s come a long way since I wrote it a few years ago. The melody and the concept came to me on a long walk in the woods and I eventually recorded a demo on acoustic guitar, my daughter and I singing together. Over time it developed into this version inspired by my love for 70s smooth soul era artists like Sylvia, Shuggie Otis, Sly Stone and Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band.

Do You Wanna Fall In Love? 💐

Folks have been asking me for the past 44 million years - “When are you gonna put out some music?” Now I can say - “Tuesday July 14th 2026 at 9:20am..” 😏

I had a great time working on this project with some amazingly talented friends and loved ones and I cant wait to share it with you all next week! 🕺🏽

Had a great time this past Friday as a guest on ‘Nite Starter’ the weekly show by my good friend @kendramorris ! This episode we honored the legacy of the great Curtis Mayfield one of my biggest inspirations. Here’s an original song I’ve been working out - inspired by Brother Curtis as well as the things, people, and moments that help us find peace in this chaotic world.

It’s been a few weeks since I put out my song ‘Do You Wanna Fall in Love’.
THANK YOU to everyone who has taken time to listen and share it! Here’s a few behind the scenes moments from its creation and a few words about the concept of the song

‘Do You Wanna Fall In Love?’ is a song I wrote a few years back and later recorded this version inspired by my love for 70s smooth soul era artists like Sylvia, Shuggie Otis, Sly Stone and Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. The melody came to me like a dream on a long walk in the woods and I remember I kept singing it for about an hour until I was able to get to my car and write down the words and record a little memo.

The song is sort of a cautionary tale - a loaded question. Its story of well dressed wolves, goddesses with golden daggers in their hands & silver arrows in their hearts. The beauty and pain of heartache & walking in the rain with tears in your eyes. It speaks to the inspiring transcending sides of love and to its painful yearning descent into the obsessive & destructive. And so It asks the question with a tone of sarcasm “Do You Wanna Fall In Love?”

Love is commitment
Love is dedication
Love is so soft and so hard
Love is poetic and nonsensical but with profound meaning
Love is something wild

I heard a story once that the soul of Man was floating around peacefully beyond space and time and when looking down at the Earth below saw Nature in all of her beauty. He fell in Love and fell through the cosmos and the planets and landed here on Earth and took on the physical existence. It’s called the spiritual decent of humanity into the material realm. I’m paraphrasing but it led me to thinking deeper about the concept of falling in love. How crazy it can be, but also rewarding but also ridiculous.

My uncle said recently ‘Love ain’t for everybody.’
