#Ratangad is a stunning 400-year-old hill fort in the Sahyadris, situated at an elevation of 1,297 meters (4,255 feet) in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Often called the "Jewel of the Sahyadris," it overlooks the Bhandardara backwaters and serves as the origin of the Pravara River. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Key Highlights

The 'Nedhe': A unique natural rock peak with a large cavity (Eye of the Needle) at the top.

Gates: Features four main stone gates named Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan, and Trimbak.

Caves & Water: Includes rock-cut caves that can accommodate trekkers, along with cisterns providing potable water year-round.

History: Captured and favored by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it previously stood under Bahmani and Mughal rule.
