This summer was a blur. I didn’t break my phone out much. After a sour experience early in the year being surrounded by people, it really soured my mood. After some chats with friends, I decided to spend my time chasing solitude. For 2 months I saw 2 other fishermen, one of whom I fish with regularly anyways. Last year I burnt myself out, and could not find a balance. I learned a lot, and have done better working on fatherhood, work, and scampering around the rocks. I don’t know where the fishery is headed, I spent more time trying to shake a 40” bass off my plug than actually reeling in a Schoolie class bass. I’m nervous to see what the next 5 years holds. My time in the suds is unfortunately drawing to a close, I’m not done, but with work, family, and just life obligations it is going to be going on the back burner. I hope to see some of you around before the fish are gone for the season. 🫡 by @surfcastsigma

I’m starting a challenge for the 2026 season, even if it’s personally. Make this year the one you start crushing, or even just mutilating your barbs.
Drop the rear hook, crush your barbs, keep the fish wet, properly revive, and above all, keep yourself and the fish safe. by @surfcastsigma

I’m genuinely concerned nobody in charge of rulemaking even fishes, or dare I say even knows anyone who does. Because they have yet again done the opposite of what needs to be done. Rebuilding a stock, by removing MORE fish a day.

As a Maine kid, I grew up listening to my grandfather talk about the gator bluefish cow bass that roamed thickly through most of our beaches and estuaries in the 60s and 70s. I’ll save the long winded history rant, as this post is already going to be a tough read. Along came the 1980s(shocker right) striped bass moratorium, really all we had up here to target were bluefish at that point. There were so many bluefish and pogies they were choking out entire bays. The bluefish, averaging 20lbs and 40” commonly, were pushing so many bunker up on the beaches and on top of each other choking them out, it wound up causing a massive fish kills with pogies littering bays and beaches. The locals, and tourists complained about the smells, Maine contracted Russian trawling companies to come in and gather up all of the dead fish and live fish from locals. It resulted in a MASS POPULATION CRASH. The likes of which Maine has never seen. Our coasts were fuckin barren dawg. No pogies. No bass, aside from the occasional and very sporadic 18”-24” Schoolie. No bluefish. We finally got pogies back a number of years ago, with our rivers, bays and shorelines cleaning up. This has resulted in the return of the bass, and the fish I had always heard stories about; the bluefish. I’d never seen a fish with crazy teeth aside from the pike we chased in the local lakes. Many see them as a nuisance, and annoying. Which, I can see why. They get expensive. But they’re still a crucial component in the hobby we all love so much.

Ahhhh, March! As winter begins to back off, and I see @lying_about_striped_bass start dragging the troglodytes coming out of hibernation, I’m starting to look forward to striper fishing! I cannot wait to fight with brown and yellow invaders who can’t speak a full English sentence over fishing spots, and size requirements for the fish they’re poaching. But above all, I’m super excited for all of our petroleum based baits to sky rocket in price! Paints, polyurethane coatings, fluorocarbons, everything that makes our hobby tick is going to take it to the back of the throat, but hey! Liberation or whatever. Idk, while bill gates is walking around with his rotten dick, I’ll ask you this; why the fuck are we so concerned with liberating another country when Anthony Fauci got half the country fired, and closed down your favorite mom and pop convenience store. You know the one with the best chicken tendies in town? Oh, maybe it didn’t shut down, maybe it was bought by a stinky H1B Indian lmfao. Idc. All jokes and sarcasm aside, I wish all of you a safe striped bass season, I look forward to seeing all of you, and hearing about your success in the coming months, much love. 🫡🫶🏻 by @surfcastsigma

Watching people freak out about some dude who’s literally from a United States territory performing a halftime show during a game we all know is rigged atp, but remain silent about the files exposing an international satanic cannibal child rape syndicate shows me exactly why I prefer the company of aquatic organisms.
