Learn how to sand acrylic solid surface and achieve a smooth, consistent matte finish with this simple 3-step sanding system.

Lyle, owner of Applegate’s Custom Countertops, demonstrates how to remove pulled seams, glue residue, scratches, and surface damage using SurfPrep abrasives.

You’ll also see the SurfPrep 6” Electric Ray Sander and POV-8 Dust Extractor in action for cleaner sanding and a more consistent finish.

3-STEP MATTE FINISH SYSTEM

Optional Prep Step: White Lightning 150 Grit Removes glue residue, pulled seams, deep scratches, and initial surface damage.

Step 1: Blizzard Film 220 Grit Removes the sanding marks left by the initial prep step.

Step 2: ProFoam Very Fine Refines the surface and begins developing the final finish.

Step 3: Maroon Non-Woven Blends the surface to create a smooth, even matte finish.

Stop pressing so hard when you sand! 👋 It’s one of the most common mistakes we see, and it can actually slow you down and lead to poorer results.

In this video, Denny, SurfPrep's very own 'abrasive personality', demonstrates why 'less pressure' equals better sanding.

In this video, you'll learn:
• Why pushing harder doesn't remove material faster
• How proper sander balance improves control and reduces fatigue
• Why using a coarser grit is more effective than adding pressure
• How to get better finishes by letting the sander do the work

💡 Pro Tip: If your sander isn't cutting fast enough, don't push harder, drop down to a coarser grit. Choosing the right grit sequence is the key to faster material removal and a better finish.
