Ballroom screening program:

Louis Hay "Nassauer" 2023
4K Video, 10:34min., color, sound.
Nassauer is a video work that emerged from an installation. An idiosyncratic camera moves through the installation and is incorporated by a subject. As a parasite, it merges with the consciousness of the subject. A conflict arises. Nassauer is an attempt at contemporary allegory and explores the questions of how the self, consciousness and interiority are formed, what their relationship is to the „other“, and what role art, images, narration and the work itself play in this complex.

Valentin Noujaïm "Pacific Club" 2023
16mm film, 16:00min., color, sound.
In 1979, the Pacific Club was opened in the basement of La Défense – the business district of Paris. It was the first nightclub for Arabs from the suburbs; a parallel world of dance, sweat, young loves, and one-night utopias. Azedine, 17 years old at the time, tells us the forgotten story of this club

Amanda Assaley "Combustive tissue in three scenes (inter-spliced)" 2023
HD digital video with foley sound, 15:16min.
This video intersplices footage from three scenes to look at de/recomposition of social tissues as sculptural processes of fission and fusion in terms of how energy sources are both converted and redistributed.
The first and primary footage focuses on feral sheep on an island north of Scotland. Historical and economic processes have pushed the sheep to the island’s exterior, between a perimeter wall and the ocean. Without access to grass, the sheep’s digestive systems have adapted to eat brown kelp and calibrated eating patterns to low tide.
In the second scene, anti-regime fighters in Qatana, Syria mold and cast mortar shells using the soil around them while they produce an instructional video for others to also do so.
The third scene comes from the same city as the second and recounts a political martyrdom that occurred there in 2012. The scene references how when TNT was first being developed, it was being done so by priests and physicists seeking methods to resurrect human life at the atomic level.

"In Praise of Folly: 22 Tricks for Desire, Audacity and Disappearance” takes the viewer on an intercalated journey containing fables of syntactic obscuration, deliberate tomfoolery, makeshift weapon manufacturing, impish seduction and unyielding dedication towards subjectivation in algorithmic hegemony.

Taking over the entirety of the Academy of Arts Museum, a former 19th century palace commissioned by a Tbilisi-native Armenian merchant and built by Qajar craftsmen, the exhibition represents a student-initiated intervention and institutional exchange, which seeks to unite and establish a dia(poly)logue between the works produced within the two academic domains.
