I quit Spotify a while ago and highly recommend QOBUZ @qobuz - a French streaming service, very fair to artists with an exciting release radar and monthly magazine, wholly curated by music-loving humans (neat anti-AI policy, too, not to mention their excellent audio quality).

Apart from that I’m utterly excited for SUBVERT @subvertworld - an artist-owned cooperative and true alternative to (still great but rather corporately owned) Bandcamp. I only put up „Yellow Moon“, there until further notice but am already thinking about Subvert exclusive drops, as I love them so very very much. In times of need for good news, they really bring it.

Love music? Switch services <3 be the change you wanna see.

Also, do write me a dm with your email if you want to get updates without having to spend time on social media which really is a valid wish.

In other news:

I had the pleasure to play some Kurdish songs live with Zardi Badr @deshto118 on tembûr. These songs are a sea of melancholy I happily dive into, especially with Zardi.
Also, things break, things mend. Like my little finger, who looks funny now but plays the guitar just like before. You go, little one!
Other things get mended - like my guitar in the capable hands of Krack Guitars @krackguitars Thank you!

Other pics of me traveling with a cold to the sweet people of Wuppertal, thanks for the invite @fab_neu and for sharing the stage Kitsune @ki__tsune & Simon Below @simon_below - though it’s always kinda crazy to travel sick we did had a blast.

Live again!
Warmly and surely - my broken little finger of the fret hand is mending and able to play a little mute each day. Very happy and grateful for that as I am amazed how much a little joint like this can change the whole mobile of life.
As I meanwhile have diy style learned to play the piano, this wonderful instrument will stay in our shows whenever possible.

Break a leg, they say
Break a finger, I did

Happy new-ish Western calendar year, babes!
I wish you nothing but happiness, joy, warmth & love.

I have to break the news I broke the little finger of my fretting hand - but don’t fret!
While not being able to really play guitar, I can use my 1 1/2 hands to develop my set on piano. Not really an instrument I have mastered - yet!
Scary! Good! Exciting!
So, see how far I’ve come on keys in the 1 week I have to get it from zero to audible (I’m on song 6 and counting).

Oh, lovely people.

I so appreciate the blessing to be able to go on tour, meeting you and connecting with y’all.
Gigi & I had a BLAST playing for you this October - ending in a wildly sold out night at Horns Erben, Leipzig <3

MAYBE there’ll be an additional Leipzig show this December, but DEFINITELY this Friday at the following venue:

We kinda missed documenting most of our live shows, so here are some bts bits and blurry (atmospheric!) snippets thankfully taken by Marius - if you wanna see us high res, come to a live show & we’ll be happy to do it all over again for you, 3D, surround sound, the whole shebang.

I really wanna thank each one of you who already came out and keeps coming out to see us.

Heute Abend, am 31.10. ab 20 Uhr bei uns @susaberivan mit Band und Support: Esther Koch @_esther.koch_

Berlinerin Susa Berivan singt frei vom Herzen weg. Beeinflusst von diversen Genres und Künstler:innen – Billie Holiday, Jimi Hendrix, Björk, Ofra Haza, Johnny Cash – bleibt Berivan mit ihrer Gitarre klar dem Genre Singer-Songwriter zuzuordnen, ohne in dessen bereitstehende Klischeefallen zu tappen. Ihre Songs sind so eigenwillig wie eingehend, tief melancholisch und trotzig lebensfroh. Versiert und frei schenkt Susa Berivan ihrem Publikum eine überraschende Emotionalität und Entschleunigung in Zeiten digitaler Überreizung.

Auf kleinen bis großen internationalen Bühnen war Susa Berivan Vorgruppe der georgischen Jazz-Sensation Nino Katamadze, der französischen Alternative-Band ‚Moriarty‘, Background-Sängerin für zahlreiche Bands, spielte E-Gitarre für Glamrocker Jemek Jemowit/Zygmunt Blask und sang Hot Jazz mit Mitgliedern des Syncopation Orchestra. Sie hat mehrere Bootleg-Alben veröffentlicht – und tourt im Oktober durch ganz Deutschland. Besuchende des Leipzig-Konzertes dürfen gespannt sein auf ein neues Release.

Berivans virtuose Stimme mäandert im langen Hall, begleitet von Gigi Guillottini an Bass, Schlagzeug und Esther Koch an zusätzlicher Gitarre, zweiter Stimme – und gelegentlich einer Orgel aus den 60er Jahren!
Auch sprachlich begibt sich Berivan in neue Gefilde: nachdem sie bisher auf Englisch gesungen hat, entpuppen sich einige der neuen Songs als poetische Ausreißer in deutscher Sprache.

Ebenso zweisprachig sind die Kompositionen von Bandmitglied und Support-Act Esther Koch, die an diesem Abend zum ersten Mal öffentlich gespielt werden. Ihre Musik ist von Folk-Größen wie Laura Marling inspiriert – über Elliot Smith, Nirvana und John Frusciante. Akustisch, introspektiv und poetisch, getragen von Kochs warmer Stimme und bemerkenswerten Gitarrenspiel.

Northern and Southern Germany tour leg is over.
Leipzig is up next!

Thank you for all of you lovely organizers, each one of you listeners that came out. I’m grateful for the atmospheres we created together.

DIY-touring isn’t all highs but absolutely mostly.
Gigi and I are super happy for each helping hand moving our instruments, merch and equipment around all over the country by train. Ecological touring, yay!
Next to crazy train delays and wild circumstances in which to do our art in we had so many lovely encounters and heartfelt new connections that we are filled to the brim with happiness.
I’ll rest my voice today from singing, but also from talking to everyone <3

And we’re very looking forward to seeing you next in Leipzig, Halloween, Friday 31st at @horns_erben
