I think my heart recognised Jane Austen long before I realised why. Not because her stories are simply romantic, but because they celebrate the kind of beauty the world has slowly forgotten: depth of character, steadfast affection, quiet wit, and lives that are not rushed.
Bath couldn’t have been a more fitting place to remember that. 🤍

Perhaps, one of the greatest dangers is not rejecting the cross! But becoming so familiar with it that it no longer searches us.

we wear it.

we sing about it.

we thank God for it.

yet somewhere along the way,

we quietly stopped asking what it demands of us.

the cross was never given merely to be admired.

it was given to reshape us.

to confront our pride.

to expose our idols.

to call us to deny ourselves,

and to follow Christ.

perhaps the question is not whether we believe in the cross,

but whether we still allow it to confront the way we live.

“If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
- Luke 9:23🤍

Perhaps the enemy’s greatest victories are not always the obvious ones.

Not every battle begins with rebellion.

Sometimes it begins with familiarity.

With becoming so accustomed to Christianity that Christ no longer leaves us in wonder.

We still attend church.

We still know the verses.

We still sing the hymns.

Yet somewhere along the way, our hearts quietly stop marvelling at the One they are about.

Drift rarely announces itself.

It happens slowly.

A prayer left unspoken.

A conviction quietly ignored.

A heart that settles for knowing about Christ,

instead of delighting in Him.

The question is not whether we still call ourselves Christians.

The question is whether Christ still has our deepest affection.

“Abide in Me, and I in you.” - John 15:4 🤍

what if the deepest wound in many daughters is living as though they have no Father?

perhaps that is why so many hearts grow weary.

always striving.
always proving.
always carrying burdens they were never meant to carry.

always afraid that if they let go for a moment,
everything might fall apart.

yet the gospel begins with a very different invitation.

not:
“prove yourself.”

not:
“hold everything together.”

not:
“become enough.”

but simply:

“come.”

for before there was achievement,
before there was approval,
before there was becoming,

there was a Father.

and perhaps the deepest healing begins when a daughter stops living as though she is alone,
and remembers whose she is 🤍

Story time : 3 weeks ago, I started running.🏃‍♀️

Now, for anyone who knows me, you’ll know this is slightly ridiculous because I have never been a runner. Given the choice, I’d normally be tucked away in a matcha café somewhere, happily losing track of time for a few hours, rather than voluntarily putting myself through a run.

Endurance sport has never really been my thing. But over the last few years, I’ve realised something.

Whilst I’ve never had much physical endurance, life has taught me emotional endurance.

The kind where you keep showing up when your heart feels heavily bruised and knackered. The kind where you keep believing when things don’t make sense. The kind where you carry grief, disappointment, unanswered prayers, and hopes that haven’t turned out the way you imagined, yet somehow keep putting one foot in front of the other.

For much of my life, I’ve felt like I’ve been running a marathon emotionally, I kid you not!

So this year, I thought I’d try to do something my body has never done before and see if it can learn some of what my heart already knows.

Three weeks in, still very much a beginner. Still negotiating with myself before every run. Still wondering whose bright idea a half marathon was.😅

But we’re getting there. By God’s grace, I’m training for the Cardiff Half Marathon @cardiffhalf this October and raising money for Tenovus Cancer Care along the way. @tenovuscancer

If you’d like to support the cause, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if not, I’d still love for you to come along for the journey and see where these next few months take me.🩵

perhaps this is why waiting can feel so difficult.

because time has a way of testing what we believe,
and silence has a way of exposing what we trust. Tbh,
I think many of us have found ourselves there at one time or another.

wondering whether God still remembers,
whether He still intends to do what He said,
or whether the delay means something has changed.

yet faith often looks like returning to the same promise,
again and again,

and choosing to trust God with it one more day.

perhaps read that again. 🖤

In the middle of work, deadlines, and the quiet hustle of everyday life, it’s easy to forget that God is still shaping something deeper within us. For those who carry a desire to nurture a home one day, or step into a different season of life - don’t lose heart in the waiting. Faithfulness today is not separate from the future you’re praying for. It may be the very place God is building it. So stay rooted where you are, and trust Him with where you’re going.❤️
