The rain came down and so did we to celebrate @jdnetto and the launch of WINTERBORNE. This is a book that was several years in the making and we’re so grateful to the @podiumentertainment for helping us bring it to life. I live in Manhattan and Chris is from the UWS so I know I’ve passed the “prettiest block” before but good to circle back and definitely check it off. There’s certainly a lot of pretty brownstones on this block but it’s hard to say one block is the prettiest when the UWS is filled with picturesque blocks.

Also I’ve passed 41 Cooper Square (not sure why it says 411 on the Time Out site, it’s definitely 41 Cooper in my magazine) a million times so it was nice to stop and admire it. Now I need to make friends with a Cooper alumni so I can get on their summer rooftop.

Finally went to the correct Standard hotel location and they are not joking about the bathroom size. It’s the practically the same size as my bathroom! If they can squeeze in a shower I might ask to move in.

Had pork buns from Momofuku and they were…fine? I feel like it’s hard to claim you have the best pork buns in NYC. The chocolate caramel pie was delicious though!

And we finally went to the beach! It seems almost every weekend this summer there was rain but it was finally sunny and clear. Fort Tilden involved a bigger journey than us just getting off the A in the Rockaways or the B/D at Brighton or Coney Island but it was worth it. The beach was so relaxed and calm. I wish it wasn’t so windy so maybe the waves could have been less rough but overall, we’ll come back here again. by @susaninprogress

Can’t believe I’ve lived here ten years and this was my first time going to the Bronx Zoo. I didn’t see every single exhibit because there was a little drizzle in the morning and I got there in early afternoon so I had limited time before the zoo closed for the day. But I got to see all the animals I wanted plus a few extra! by @susaninprogress

Next part of the NYC bucket list: a pretty stroll in the Bronx with lunch on Arthur Avenue.

I went on the 4th of July which was probably the worst idea because it was HOT and a lot of restaurants on Arthur Avenue were closed or closed early for the holiday.

But because I’m stubborn and insist on making do, I actually had a good time. I told myself the closures actually made it easier to not have a paralysis of choice and whatever was meant to be open, was meant for me to try. I liked the pasta dish at Emilia’s but points off for only serving Pepsi products. (I don’t care that they basically taste the same as Coke; on a hot summer day I want a crispy Diet Coke.)

I got a sampling of various baked goods from each bakery I went and when I came home, Chris and I did a taste test of the best cannolis and tiramisu. Gino’s was definitely the favorite for the tiramisu but it was hard to judge the cannolis because we put them in the fridge to nibble at throughout the week. So, I guess I need to come back and do another pastry crawl to be sure! by @susaninprogress

Well, not before I die but certainly before the baby comes. I found my old Time Out magazine from 2017 with the “ultimate NYC” bucket list and now I’m trying to see how much I can check off before I give birth.

1. I misread one of the entries and thought it said to visit the Standard Hotel by the Highline which I wanted to go because they’re doing a 50s diner inspired pop up for the summer. Wrong Standard location but right root beer float.
2. The sugar and carbs from my float and burger and fries (not pictured) were what I needed to browse the Whitney. I’ve been to the Whitney several times but I didn’t remember seeing George Tooker’s The Subway. So it was nice to officially check it off and see some other museum highlights.
3. I’m pretty sure I’ve read in the Rose Reading Room before but why not visit during my lunch hour and get a little reading done in a cool, quiet room?
4. I got to check off the Lincoln Center twice. I feel very dumb, having lived in NYC for TEN years and I always assumed the Lincoln Center was just the one big building you can see from the street level. I was today year’s old when I went to see Ragtime at the Vivian Beaumont and realized there’s more than one building. @maheen_holla got last minute tickets to Swan Lake which I had been wanting to see as well. Thank you, Maheen!
5. I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten at one of the other Roberta’s locations but doesn’t hurt to come back and see if the pizza jogs my memory. by @susaninprogress

Who says there’s no culture in Oswego? During our reunion weekend, there was an art exhibition from the local schools plus the regular displays of SUNY student artwork. Lots of amazing young talent here! by @susaninprogress

Sorry I’m doing another one of my belated photo dumps because I keep forgetting to post my photos. Here’s part 1 of my photo diary from my 10 year reunion at SUNY Oswego.

I love that my school offers the option to stay in the dorms for the reunion weekend even though you have to either buy or bring your own twin XL linens. It felt very nostalgic to check in at the front desk for my room assignment, wait for my friends to arrive, have a celebratory “back to school” ice cream at Bev’s, eat dinner, and enjoy a night on the town.

We tried to recreate the Bridge Street Run but Oswego is no longer the party town we remember. Old City Hall, the hallowed place of 50 cent drafts and sticky floors, is now a classy pub that closes at 10pm on a Friday night. 10 pm! That was when we would just start to leave the dorm after pre-gaming!

We walked into Ferris Wheel and then promptly walked out when we realized we were the oldest people there (I don’t know what was going on it seemed one of the frats celebrating a reunion anniversary somehow had a bunch of undergrads there too). What do you mean you start checking IDs with birthdates after 2005?

Alley Cats was filled with high school kids with fake IDs. Glad some things never change.

I guess we’re finally part of the main demographic for the Brick. People were more occupied watching the Knicks game than partying.

I had been craving Wonzone’s Calzones since I booed my reunion ticket but the owners went on vacation. Luckily D.P. Dough was there to hit the spot.

1) went to my 10 year college reunion at SUNY Oswego
2-3) Attended the MOMI Awards honoring Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, and Adam Aron
4) Hosted a house party to share my teas from London
5) Saw Ragtime at the Lincoln Center
6) Chris and I are expecting a baby girl, due in December! by @susaninprogress
