So, I had every intention of doing a landscape painting this time. You know, change things up a bit. This is what showed up on my easel instead. And it's another Heron too! Apparently I can't stop painting birds this year. Good thing I am really having fun in the process. And to my mind really creating some beauty.
Thank you to Hinda Morris Photography for graciously letting me use her inspiring photo.

When size does matter. I am sharing these photos of my latest painting, Love Nest, to help you visualize how big it is. Saying that it's 36" x 30" is one thing, seeing is believing.

Oh dang! Wait a minute, they need yellow eyes! Every aficionado of Great Blue Herons knows that they have yellow eyes. So here's the official photo of "Love Nest", yellow eyes and all.

I am, very excited to share with you my latest painting, "Love Nest". To date this is the biggest painting that I have ever tackled. And it is the third great blue heron painting that I have done this year. If you haven't noticed yet, they are a favorite of mine. I am most fortunate to see herons daily during the warmer months.

I am tackling one big canvas! The biggest I have ever worked on. I will admit it was daunting at first but it is coming together nicely now. I only have the nest and touch ups left to do. Working title is "Love Nest".

Happy Thanksgiving! Cheers Susan and Carey. by @susanseasel

Surprise I have created a black and white painting! Knowing my love of colour you should be surprised. Once again BC photographer Ian McAlpine has tempted my artistic mind with a photo of these two beautifully serene white Pelicans. Thank you again Ian for letting me use your photos.
Hope you like it.

Waiting for a title. by @susanseasel

Here it is, the 14th painting of 2026! "Leafy Hideaway". I got into the zone today and got this beauty of a kingfisher finished. I do love it when I get into the zone. Thank you again to Ian McAlpine for giving me permission to use his amazing photographs.
Now this painting needs a title....?

There's another painting in progress on my easel. After receiving more then four or five scam emails a week, sometimes more by certain people wanting to buy my art under disreputable circumstances I am questioning why I even bother posting my art or anything on FB or Instagram. Feeling frustrated!! Anyway, the WIP or work in progress is a kingfisher and the photo reference is given to Ian McAlpine . Thank you Ian. Artist Susan Feniak. susanfeniakart.com by @susanseasel

An exciting day! It was time to switch out the paintings that I have hanging at the office of Miller Wealth downtown Salmon Arm on Hudson Ave. Thank you to Amanda Moga-White for letting me hang my art in her office. All three paintings are original, available and individually priced. Although you might have to convince Amanda to part with "Musing". I couldn't. Artist Susan Feniak. by @susanseasel
