There was an ID celebration at my community today. I went to a farm for a birthday party too. Everyone greeted each other. It was a happy day.

Nothing wrong at all with this.

I got back home and saw all the messages on our 80th ID. It swelled my pride of being Indian.

Until this video rolled in.

Am not ashamed of my privilege. I enjoy it almost everyday - the doors that open, the exposure I take for granted, the friends I keep, the society I live in. All.

But when I saw her ask for what I never ever thought of asking. It made me stop. And ask myself: has 80 years of Independence been equal to all?

Everybody now wants a piece of this cake. Let’s be clear, it belongs to the youth of this country. Period.

What the entire opposition couldn’t do in 12 years, our young managed in under 2 months. It’s their victory. Don’t let the opposition parties have you believe they played a role. They didn’t. Period.

They effin did it! The head rolled. The young of the country just showed the adults in the room how it’s done. The fortress has been breached.

Now is the most critical and dangerous part. The beast is wounded and it won’t sit still. They will come back with every trick known and unknown. The victorious young will need more support now than before. Be vigilant.

But for now. Savour this moment of reckoning. Well done boys and girls of India. You didn’t just make us proud, you’ve awakened true nationalism.

I don’t have children. The NEET issue did not affect me directly. I am not the youth of this country. However, the sheer callousness of the govt in power at the centre that is shirking accountability and refusing to engage the youth on their demands, affects me as a citizen.

In a participatory democracy, street protests are a healthy and peaceful tool to show dissent and question unbridled authority. Ignoring them, using state’s force against them, weaponising institutions against them and getting mainstream media to divert attention is only going to prove counter-productive. You can never fool all the people all the time. Such protests are vital for our democracy.

I couldn’t go to Delhi but I will go to Freedom Park Bengaluru today too. That’s the least I can do as a citizen. You should too. It’s not about any party anymore. It’s about our country and its future.

Pedaluru exists to bring that community together: cyclists, walkers, students, commuters, RWAs, colleges, and corporates as one civic voice.

Because infrastructure follows demand. And demand starts with people like you.

By 2029, cycling should be as normal in Bengaluru as taking an auto. We’re building that, one ride, one college, one street at a time.
