SushiRitas didn’t just happen.

After Social Sushi… there was a stretch where things weren’t clear.

No roadmap.
No guarantees.
Just moving through the fog… feeling my way forward.

I had some real conversations with my family along the way.
The kind where people start asking when you’re going to let something go.

And if I’m being honest… I had to ask myself the same thing.

But every time I got quiet…
and really sat with it…

I kept feeling it.

And the community kept reminding me too.

There was still something there.
A thread that hadn’t been pulled all the way through.

So I stayed with it.

I had to really figure out who I was…
who I am…
and who I’m determined to be.

And now we’re here.

Getting close to opening something that was built through all of that.

Because this was never just about sushi.

It’s about creating a space where people feel it.
Where community shows up for each other.
Where the energy is real.

And the truth is…

Whether you’ve been rocking with this from day one
or you’re just now discovering it…

A SEAT WAS ALWAYS YOURS!

Now I’m inviting you in… not just to show up,
but to build this with us.

It won’t be perfect.
But neither are we.

We’re going to learn, adjust, and grow… together.

Perfectly imperfect.

Could this fail?
Sure.

But what if it succeeds???

So pull up.
Bring your people.

An open letter to the future.

I want to remember this version of myself.
Not just what I was building.
But how I chose to build it.

Social Sushi wasn’t just a business.
It was an experiment in connection.
Proof that food could bring people together without pretense.

When it ended, it taught me something hard.
Vision without structure will cost you what matters most.

SushiRitas was born from that lesson.

Here are my non-negotiables.
Being a present father is non-negotiable.
Being a present husband is non-negotiable.

Not just in words.
In my calendar.
In my business planning.
In what I say yes and no to.

If building this requires me to disappear, I don’t want it.
If growth costs my family, its the wrong kind of growth and I rebuke it.

My kids have watched this season.
They’ve seen work ethic.
They’ve seen discipline.
I hope they’ve felt chosen, even on the tired days.

My marriage grew here too.
Not because it was easy.
But because we chose honesty over silence.
We learned how to build and grow both togeher and individually without losing each other.

Detroit sharpened me.
This city doesn’t reward shortcuts.
It demands consistency and integrity.

Now the work is becoming visible.

Permit approvals.
Closing on funds.
And final buildout...begins this month.

Not a finish line.
A commitment.

SushiRitas isn’t just a restaurant.
It’s a promise to build something that supports my life and the mission I've always been after, not replaces it.

If this ever costs me my presence, I walk away.
No exceptions. My team understands this and they've stepped in fully. My message to them is simple: you are ALREADY enough and your non-negotiables are equally important. I'm dedicating my all to arrive, together.

The job isn’t finished.
But the rules are clear.
