The new album invitation to my tears (Oct. 2, 2026, Introvert Utopia) by Johannes Wakolbinger’s @esperae__ 11-piece experimental indie/art pop ensemble iris electrum is a carefully crafted space that draws listeners in without ever favouring theatrics over substance.  On their second studio album following their debut album iris electrum (2017, col legno), iris electrum explore new dimensions of their distinctive musical universe, evoking the avant-garde pop of Julia Holter with subtle restraint and emotional pull.  Articulated through a vast variety of sound and form, their songs are both hymns and gentle calls for patience and openness, mindful choice, consistency and vision, trust and experiment, as well as nuance and complexity – echoes of a multi-layered reality, of life itself, in all its countless expressions between quiet intimacy and radiant grandeur. Adventurous and heartening, they transcend stylistic boundaries, move lightly across genres, and celebrate curiosity and multiplicity.  The single into dust was created in musical collaboration with the artist Anja Plaschg @anja.f.plaschg (Soap&Skin, Exit Void), and the accompanying music video (release date: September 4) was produced in collaboration with filmmakers Marianne Andrea Borowiec and Hannes Starz. The album and single cover artwork was designed by Sophie Löw / CULK @studio___low

In Benzin, ora et labora explores the state between restraint and outburst—excess energy, anticipation, and the unstoppable urge to finally let go and just do it. It describes the moment just before the explosion: when everything builds up inside you, that impatient tingling, when your fingers are literally itching to finally get started and you’re just waiting for that last little spark to ignite.
It’s that feeling of locking yourself away at home while everything inside keeps simmering away. Ideas, thoughts, and feelings pile up until you feel like you’re about to explode at any moment. All it takes is a small impulse, a tiny nudge—and everything could burst out all at once. But that’s exactly where the tension lies: You feel that something inside you wants to come out, but you don’t yet know how to translate all of that into words, music, or expression.

Benzin is the second single from ora et labora. The first single is called Kraftwerk and is brimming with synth-pop, post-punk, industrial, gabba, and experimental electronic music.

The track explores both the composer’s personal memories and the manifold wounds inflicted by patriarchy.

into dust was created in musical collaboration with the artist @anja.f.plaschg (SOAP&SKIN, Exit Void), and the accompanying music video (release date: September 4) was produced in collaboration with filmmakers Marianne Andrea Borowiec and Hannes Starz. With I Am Tired, the Styrian post-punk/new-wave outfit Love A.M. unveil the second single from their forthcoming album Monsters, set for release this autumn. A soundtrack for the post-democracy generation.

The track finds the Graz/Vienna-based formation at their most infectious in darkness and most unsettling in honesty: synths loom over the song like a gathering thunderstorm, while razor-sharp guitars cut nervously through the haze.

I Am Tired revolves around destructive behavioral patterns and the struggle against helplessness trapped on repeat. In romantically distorted fashion, the post-punk band aches for the comfort of stagnation, while simultaneously feeling the uncontrollable urge to break free from themselves once again

I Won’t Begin is a short, intimate folk song using cryptic imagery and layered fingerpicked guitars to tell a tender story about relationships changing, collapsing and reforming.

@storm__lily song Jaywalking is the second single, following SHIFT, from her upcoming album Humbah (Fall, 2026, self release).  Jaywalking critiques how stereotypically patriarchal road users aggressively claim space and refuse to give way. By car, scooter or by foot, consideration is required. In their habitat, on their daily routes, city dwellers want to move freely and be allowed to bend rigid rules once in a while: sometimes slowing down, so someone can calmly cross the street, sometimes cruising on the sidewalk for a bit or crossing at a red light when the road is clear.
Jaywalking is a call to behave more considerately, to be mindful of each others‘ presence, and, as „smaller“ and more vulnerable road users in the face of dominant car traffic, which symbolises structural superiority and displacement, to claim space.  Jaywalking is an invitation to make room for one another—not just on the street, but also in the mind.

Last Note navigates dimly lit emotional spaces that oscillate between tenderness and menace. There, the band distills desire, distance, and emotional disintegration, giving the songs a feel that is both intimate and apocalyptic. The 10 songs deal with an increasingly fragmented and polarized, post-factual world in which stupidity, disguised as opinion, calls the shots.

On Last Note, Fugu combine lyrical introspection, dark romanticism, and a raw, magnetic voice into songs that seem to hover between seduction and collapse. It’s about lingering on the edge of the abyss just before the leap that ultimately never happens. But then it’s also about fireflies, shooting stars, and love amidst this “ridiculous carnival.”

It all started with a note in the dining room: “3 Songs by September 2.”
Fugu, founded in 2002 by Manfred Engelmayr @raumschiffengelmayr (Bulbul, Broken.Heart.Collector, Exit Void) and Heimo Wallner, a visual artist, trumpet player, and co-organiser of the Artists Residence Hotel Pupik in Scheifling, who is also responsible for Fugu’s design, has always existed as a long-distance relationship: first Scheifling–Berlin, later Vermont–Vienna.

The band, expanded to include Bernhard Breuer (Elektro Guzzi) and Martin Zrost (Trio Lepschi), already recorded their debut album Off in 2008 as a quartet under the name Fugu And The Cosmic Mumu. Following the singles Let Go and Broken Record / Influencer released in 2022 and 2024 on Rock Is Hell Records.
