What happens when a catwalk becomes a protest, clothes become a form of resistance, and cinema becomes a space for change?

Join us for ReWear the Revolution!, a FREE film festival bringing fashion, creativity and climate activism to the big screen in Folkestone.

Expect award-winning short films, two film premieres, a guest animation, filmmaker Q&As and a live Subversive Catwalk.

Through film, poetry, upcycled clothing and wearable art, we challenge the environmental and social impact of fast fashion and celebrate the power of creativity to inspire change.

I have finished a new interactive artwork, just in time for @openartfolke . I will be showing it in the group textiles exhibition “WEB” in the Lower atrium of the glassworks accessible at street level in mill bay Folkestone.

9th October 11am-9pm

My piece is viewable by anyone but the interaction with audio is 18+

You are invited to a day of experimenting with soft sculpture sewing.

We will spend the first half of the day making 3d fabric shapes, playing with paper patterns, cutting, adjusting and testing them, forcing fabric into unusual forms. We will try out useful tools and techniques. Creating a library of technical skills

In the afternoon we will take what we have learnt and start recreating our individual chosen inspirational objects in textiles.

Expect to leave with lots of samples and ideas.

Workshop size: 6 humans

Wild Nettle Twining Workshops

1st October Workshop times: 10am - 11am, 11.30am - 12.30pm, 1pm - 2pm

The humble (and misunderstood) stinging nettle is a versatile plant, come and discover how to turn it into a beautiful cord to be used as adornment (a necklace, a bracelet, a tree hanging, or a hair accessory) or as a practical length of string.

The world is your nettle.

Whatever kind of a witch you are or want to be, whether you are ceremonial, practical, folksy, cosmopolitan or a kitchen witch, I welcome you to come and make a make a simple poppet doll using plastic free, vegan materials.

Poppets are dolls made to represent someone in order to cast spells or set intentions, I recommend that you practice witchcraft with consent and only perform magic on yourself and for yourself. eg improve your self-worth and become the person you love spending time with, rather than changing yourself for someone, or changing them for you.

You will leave this gentle workshop with a doll, the skills and knowledge to make more and lots of ideas and suggestions of how you can use your doll in your practice.
