My dearest Amsterdam ❌❌❌
For almost 20 years you’ve been my base, my safe haven, mijn stad, my trigger and my challenge. I’ve moved from Zuid to Centrum to West, had a big love affair with Noord and had fun encounters with Oost. On every block there’s a memory, small and big. But I stayed curious and you kept surprising me everytime. I fell in love multiple times and eventually found true love. Sometimes I was sick and tired of you, needed a break but my heart always found its way back.

But now it’s time to say goodbye, our lives changed, our expectations aren’t aligned anymore and to be honest we quietly drifted apart. I won’t go far, always close enough to say hello and dip in when I want to. My kids will learn how to move around in the city and we’ll have our weekly encounters. I’ll just be around the corner, to a home that fits my family and the needs that exist now. Amsterdam, you’ve been by my side in my 20s and watched me going through the biggest moments in life in my 30s. You’ll be in my heart and all the lessons you’ve taught me will stay with me forever. My forever first love.
